Since the triple threat, his only proper PPV match was at Forbidden Door, otherwise, he had a spot in a six man ladder match, a pre show ten man tag, and he came out to the ring with Kris Statlander.
Heck, he’s defended his belt a few times the last few weeks and he still can’t get a match on the big show.
What’s a guy gotta do to get that check?

I feel like he sometimes has the issue of being good enough to where he gets a bit taken for granted. Not intentional disrespect, but the idea being that he's over and talented enough to plug into anything TK's got going on, so he doesn't actively cultivate him enough.

It sucks it keeps happening to him specifically but I'm cool with the idea of leaving big names off the PPVs considering how they've just exploded in match count this year. The shortest AEW PPV of 2022 had 12 matches and it's looking like Full Gear probably won't supplant it for that position given there are already 11 and it's hardly unusual for them to announce more stuff on Rampage plus they might end up kicking the tournament semifinals to there.

Being off the PPV I don't think is a sleight, he doesn't have a big bad right now and is doing a more open challenge thing. Maybe he'll get a match on the Buy-In to continue that
And while he was an alternate, he did get a huge match with Ospreay this year on PPV, I'd argue one of the best matches on a spectacular wrestling quality show too

I don't think being on the preshow for these PPVs is necessarily a bad thing, the crowd is always so molten during that first hour and you're still part of the event. I expect him to be on the preshow this Saturday, either defending the AAC or in a multi-man tag with Best Friends vs The Factory. He's having an awesome run with the AAC and while a big time PPV match would be cool, he's doing very well for himself at the moment, and is featured very prominently week to week.

I'm fine with OC being more of a TV attraction; PPVs aren't quite just a formality, but they're definitely significantly less important than they used to be, and OC is just a really good guy to have wrestling on television constantly to pull people in. I don't know how the guy himself feels about it or if there's a plan to all of it, but with AEW PPVs being gauntlets of match after match after match, it doesn't feel like too bad an idea. AEW tries to keep the majority of its major players on PPVs and I don't think there's any doubt OC is a major player, but if his PPV presence is kept to something for bigger moments that's cool by me.

Probably a better shot of him making it if he starts hanging around the ROH brand

It’s really quite annoying. They always make room for Darby, but OC gets left off all the time for whatever reason, even when he’s a champion. I mean it’s saved me money because I don’t buy ppvs unless he’s on them, but still. I’m going to Full Gear so I hope he at least gets a preshow match.

I do think they've actually done a good job building up OC as a fighting champ at the very least.

He’s still in an alright spot for the time being, there are just more major feuds going on ATM.

Because ROH needs its belts defended on AEW TV / PPV more than an actual AEW champion.
Duh.

Does AEW operate such that you get paid more if you're on the PPV?

We haven't really heard anything if talents on the Buy-In shows get lesser bonuses than being on the main PPV card.
TBH, we don't know much of anything about how AEW contracts are structured.

Sad thing is the defenses were the best thing to happen to OC in a long time too...The belts in AEW have never felt more like a unnecessary prop than they do right now and that sucks
