…when was the last time we had an on-screen authority figure?
They seem to have gotten rid of them. Good riddance.

NXT has HBK now. However he's more in the Jack Tunney role of impartial authority who pretty much just stays out of the way and only really appears if an important announcement is needed. So no harm, no foul there.

Weird thread considering how prominently NXT used the authority figure role.

I am not against the idea of authority figures but Pearce and Sonya both being face or heel depending on the week for two years really took a toll on me.

Oh no, now Adam Pearce is going to get his old role back. I am blaming you if I have to see Adam Pearce back in his old role again. It was nice seeing him breaking up a fight and not being a goober on the mic though

Weird thread considering how prominently NXT used the authority figure role. In fairness, NXT used the authority figure perfectly. Regal was the best "GM" type character wrestling had had in a long ass time. Another good thing about HHH in charge is that I don't feel the need to throw my delicious Subway sandwich at the TV every other segment because Vince was a moron who was bad at his job. HHH may have odd booking decisions, and clear favorites, but at least we have some f***ing coherent storytelling. Plus people have last names, Elias and Otis are allowed to grow their beards back. Ali is back. Gable is getting to show the world how good he is. There's mind-puzzling stuff like how he's booked Damage CTRL, but I'm willing to take bad HHH as opposed to god awful Vince.

Not to mention we are not getting Vince-centric comedy which misses more than it’s hits. We are not getting poop jokes. Also, the reason why William Regal as GM was booked that way is because Vince except for the year he ran NXT in his own image, NEVER cared about NXT.

WWE just quietly got rid of the Adam Pearce authority figure. He hasn’t been mentioned since Ronda Rousey attacked him.

I am not against the idea of authority figures but Pearce and Sonya both being face or heel depending on the week for two years really took a toll on me. It made absolutely no sense why they were in charge either and I can't remember if they even tried to explain it. Why is a little known indy guy from 10-15 years ago and a low-carder whose done little of note in her career suddenly given that kind of power in a billion dollar company?
