Apparently Elon's in talks with Brazil on stopping it from being blocked in the country
Dude's panicking because he knows this would really kill the company.

OK, now picture this, but you can't get out of the car because you're in f***ing space. Buddy really needs to figure out how to keep his cars (and rockets) from exploding on earth before he even THINKS about how to get to Mars.

As far as I understand the main reason the judge responsible is able to do this is because Brazil has a law which requires a legal representative in the country. Seems like an easy problem to fix.

So it sounds like Twitter is about to be blocked in Brazil, so that's happening. Sometimes both sides of an issue can look like pigs. Brazil's general track record for free speech has always been the lowest in the Americas. Governments on both sides have historically gone after media outlets that were not kind to them Ok,as the resident brazilian. This is BS. Goverment under Bolsonaro was heavy on trying on shutting up journalists but that was the previous one. And the Judges(The STF)IS NOT THE GOVERMENT. And they were the ones that made the decision Musk has been tried with trying to help Bolsonaro with the coup,by refusing to do anything with the misinformation accounts on X,a few specific accounts were spewing pro-Military dictatorship propaganda and misinformation Then he Removed legal figureheads from Brazil, and refused to pay his bills and fines. which caused the shutdown If anyone here has no idea what they are talking about, please just ask me

He removed it because he doesnt want to pay his fines, which also caused Starlink to have its account frozen in Brazil. The man responsible for it is Called Alexandre de Moraes,a judge. Our President and Goverment has had nothing to do with it.But the President has stated Musk has to follow the laws of Brasil. There is a whole rabbit hole between Musk & Brazil which I would probably need the Mods permission to go into details but he has been accused heavily on supporting a military coup and his heavy interest in the illegal harvest of the Amazon Forest/Pantanal using StarlinkX Satellites. While Brazil is VERY VERY kind to Billionaries , Musk is somewhat of an outlier

I can cite many other international organizations that oversee free speech rankings from an apolitical perspective worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/countries-with-freedom-of-speech? Don't really see them

I can cite many other international organizations that oversee free speech rankings from an apolitical perspective worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/countries-with-freedom-of-speech? Don't really see them Ok...first.... according to your Link Brazil is right there, bright in blue and ranks above average, not top 10. (I can also include a picture of where Brazil is on the map) Brasil "Score" in your own site is 61, while 10 Position Argentina is 70 Which is among the only 3 Countries properly studied and ranked in your site in South America Edit:In another page,in the same side, among the most free in the world, modern day: worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/freest-countriesIt ranks pretty well, among world or south america And if you follow the line it has in the graph, you can see the availiable stats increase since 2023 which is when Bolsonaro was voted out of power. As I said Bolsaro Goverment was a bit hit involved in the decline of freedom of spech but has increased since then. freedomhouse.org/country/brazil/freedom-world/2024And even then the scores are nowhere near bottom, be it your link or mine. Your link Brazil ranks pretty middle of the road.I had to watch myself articles and stats of Brazil of Speech falling and rising as the Govermnets passed. It took hits and Bolsonaro did things such as arresting journalists that covered him, firing Officers that had fined him in the past. But even then it had never fall below the half line You dont even know what the Brazilian Goverment does or how it works as you have show yourself.

My parents are also Brazilian and left due to corruption. Brazil has no formal free speech laws that most western countries have and all the governments have abused it since the country has become independent a few hundred years ago. The Brazilian government has always had transparency issues. Every time I go back, all I hear about is general corruption from family members from local governments. We constantly go from one bad government to the next because people like you treat politics like a sporting event, instead of actually fighting to improve anything. It was so weird and embarrassing when Jericho got threatened with jail for crumpling the flag last decade. You know what free speech allows? A general criticism of government institutions. Something this current party and everyone to exist prior to it have fought against. Brazil and Free Speech

The Brazilian goverment is absolutely corrupt and lacks transparency. In all forms.I dont like either Political PArties currently, dont go breaking the rules and trying to acuse me of Sporting when you know nothing. Brazilian goverment is Corrupt, but outside of Bolsonaro it never had wide censorship of journalists. And evne under him people are always free to critic whoever they want.I wont go into all the pros and cons of the goverments because this goes too deep into politics ,which would be against the rules. Im keeping only in the notion of censorship and freedom of speech There is areas of freedom of speech it can grow, especially when it comes to public strikes, but the notion its one of the lowest ranking countries is nonsense Edit: And the most important, which was the main point, this decision had nothing with the goverment.

The potential X Ban is now conflicting with the NFL's Brazil Game. I guess there's now a non-zero chance the game could be taken out of the country due to journalists and press being unable to post to the site and give game updates awfulannouncing.com/twitter/brazil-x-ban-eagles-packers-nfl.htmlSo wonderful timing there lmfao

Apparently, Musk decided to just unintentionally(?) dox the 7 accounts that are at the center of the Brazil Xwitter ban.

Apparently, Musk decided to just unintentionally(?) dox the 7 accounts that are at the center of the Brazil Xwitter ban. Yeah, they've posted the legal documents that list the seven accounts and also include their full names. I just saw the tweet from an official Twitter account. So instead of banning the accounts (I am not saying they should or shouldn't be banned), Twitter doxxed them.
