Should we all be racist now? What's the Church's position? I'm so busy down on the farm I won't have much time for the ol' racism.

Graham Linehan's mind is small, the chances of the musical ever happening are far away.

The most pathetic element of all of this is the little fake Twitter Linehan maintained on his website when real Twitter booted him off.
Just twigged he's likely to make a comeback there before the website tanks, isn't he?

f*** Graham for his transphobia.
Poor Dermot Morgan was the title character in a great show, then sadly dies not long after the show ends.. then years later the small minded creator and writer of the show forever taints the show with his horrible and dangerous views.

and because of course there is one. We have the Skyrim version. To be fair, it's very fitting, as everyone in Skyrim is a feckin' racist.

I don’t agree with Linehan at all and he’s made his own bed, he can lie in it but I still love most of the shows he had a hand in. Arthur Matthews had an equal part in writing Father Ted and from what I have heard, doesn’t share any of Linehan’s views. Yet because of Linehan’s toxicity, his part in these great characters and shows they both created, is over-shadowed by the views of a twat.

I mean, without wanting too become to great of an armchair cliche, but Linehan's descent into TERFdom has all of the classic hallmarks of radicalisation. It's easy to forget this entire farce began with a bit in the IT Crowd getting called out for beng transphobic and Linehan's initial response was a vague 'it wasn't transphobic and I've nothing against the trans community.' It's only when that didn't suffice that he took a plunge into the clowntown of a culture war because that's apparently more viable than admitting you made a shitty joke that you should probably learn from.
What's even easier to forget is that he used to use his platform for great things like support marginalized people, defending the NHS and a million other wonderful things that he has since set aside so he can film insane vlogs unironically having a pop at cults.
Anyways, long-winded way of saying I can still enjoy Father Ted in same way I look back fondly at holidays with my racist family members before they got radicalized by Facebook.

That's how I look at it, he was one part of it, but his partner, the actors, the direction, so many people made that show great, he won't get the satisfaction of ruining it.

This is my favorite part of his Wikipedia entry
“In a September 2022 interview, Linehan stated that his anti-trans activism had led him to begin questioning the safety of COVID-19 vaccinations and the scientific consensus on climate change”
Of course it did. Of. Course. It. Did.

This is pretty much exactly how I feel towards both Linehan's shows and Harry Potter. I'm not going to give JKR the satisfaction of taking away the memories, nostalgia, and magic (pun intended) just because she wound up being as much of a twat as Linehan.

So I didn't know the writer was transphobic until I made this thread.
This is kinda awkward.

It's quite easy to assume the funniest bits of fr Ted were by Arthur Matthews and the cast, who adlib suggested many of the funniest jokes. See also Black Books. It was notable how little difference there was in Motherland when Linehan got sacked.
In astounded he threw away his life, career and fans. But his views are abhorrent.
They doesn't make Ted any less funny. It's still a great sitcom. One of my favourites. But you don't get a pass because you wrote some of the gags in a classic nearly thirty years ago.

That said.
You'd have to get up very early on the morning to catch me, father. I'm a very careful man.
Except when it comes to taking precautions in the bedroom.
Ah now, you wouldn't be recommending the use of artificial contraception would you?
