Today at Historic X-Over, New Japan Pro Wrestling and Stardom's Joint show, the first ever IWGP Women's Champion was crowned at the end of a Tournament.
Kairi defeated Mayu Iwatani to become the inaugural Champion, winning the bout after hitting a spinning backfist and performing her signature Flying Elbow Drop from the top to defeat Iwatani and win the title.

Congratulations to both on a great tournament! Honestly, I picked Mayu, but there's always the return.

There will never ever be a lifetime where I do not just relish when any combination of threedom get to face one another because it is unlike anything else IMO.
And they further proved they more than still got it because this was an absoloutley incredible match...it might be (I have to watch it again before though) might be on my womens match of the year...might be because Mayu Vs SLK from 5 star climax still edges it out atleast at the moment.
CONGRATS PIRATE PRINCESS MORE TREASURE FOR THEE YO HOY!

It's Tokyo Sports so take it with a small grain of salt, but KAIRI did an interview with them.
She talked about wanting to defend the title overseas, and to be more specific, wanting to defend it in WWE. She named Iyo and Asuka as the two women she really wants to defend the IWGP Women's Title against. And remember that shortly after she returned to the ring in STARDOM, she reminded everyone that she is on very good terms with Nick Khan, Triple H, and Stephanie. And Nick in particular has been asked about bringing in wrestlers from other promotions, and he's said that "if it makes us money, then I have zero problem with it".

Wonder if TK would have an issue with that if they asked him permission like NOAH did for Shinsuke.

With Shinsuke getting the greenlight for the NOAH match then I would say KAIRI's wish is definetly on the table. The match is gonna be absoloutley stellar but what a holy shit moment it would have been if it was kept under wraps and IYO came out to challenge KAIRI for Wrestlekingdom instead of Tam. If KAIRI can make it past WK with the title then I would get KAIRI into the rumble have her face off with IYO and Asuka and circumstances pending try and build to KAIRI Vs either woman 1 on 1 or even a triple threat.

Normally I’d say that this is just Japan talking to hype things up, but pro wrestling is the wild, Wild West right now. Nothing is off of the table. A bunch of AEW wrestlers could be in the Royal Rumble and I wouldn’t bat an eye at this point.
