Ronda Rousey was once considered the greatest in MMA. She dominated UFC and Strikeforce. She also defended her UFC title 6 times, which was the record for many years. Recently the record was broken. Valentina Shevchenko defended her UFC title 7 times. There is no doubt that Ronda and Valentina are two of the best of all time? In a battle between Ronda Rousey vs Valentina Shevchenko both in prime form who would you favor? How about the Ronda we see now in WWE the so called baddest woman on the planet. How would she fare vs the great Shevchenko in a UFC title fight? youtu.be/SdENV_ZEhJ8

Valentina. Ronda was good for the time especially against the quality of opponents that Dana was feeding her to build her hype train, but over the course of her career she actually devolved by utilizing less Judo and deciding that she was a striker. Valentina is a high level kickboxer, Muay Thai fighter, and boxer. On top of that while she may not be Olympic level like Ronda she is a Master of Sport in Judo. Valentina pieces her up on the feet just as Holm did and wins pretty easily IMO.

Very amateur as far as MMA history, but I thought the generally accepted narrative is that Ronda was a talented fighter who benefitted enormously from being a pretty girl at a time when the division generally sucked, and that when others realized the benefits of cross training and that people would tune in for women's MMA, it was basically over for her.
Which is to say, I think Valentina would've owned her.

For example, maybe Gina Carano fit that mold but once she went against Cyborg and got smoked she fell off the planet. Ronda had star power but the women got enormously better in that time frame to the point now where they are much better all rounded as opposed to very good in one area and suspect in others Ronda got too big headed. She was able to psyche other people out but she got too confident in a stand up game that was okay against a world class striker in Holm and got put on her ass and killed her confidence

Nunes got her after she was already shattered, but I suspect even if the Holm fight didn't happen, Amanda would have eaten her for breakfast. Amanda's kind of an insane talent in her own right, though.

There is a reason people were legit scared for Ronda going into that fight with her confidence being gone because Amanda was part of that evolution. Good ground game to stop Ronda and monster KO power. Even without the Holm fight, Nunes was undeniable coming for that title. Nunes is the legit GOAT for the women but doesn't get the crying in the ring Joe Rogan treatment

Yeah, the sport caught up with Ronda and to her credit, she knew the jig was up ad left instead of some folks who are so desperate to go out on a win instead of appreciating the extensive history they’ve already made.
