William Regal is going back to WWE, while AEW will have Steven Regal (someone who looks suspiciously like William but with a fake mustache). What's Mr. Electricity been up to lately?

So apprantley the terms are that Regal can go back to WWE but not be an on screen character which is fair.

Can I just add how much context is added to the period between All Out and Grand Slam that along with the other stuff he was dealing with, TK’s mother had two strokes? Like, I’m not justifying booking decisions and the like but I can’t imagine what was going through his mind dealing with all that shit. Yeah, my big takeaways from this is that I hope he’s able to continue prioritizing his mom. I’m sure this is a necessary distraction but this wrestling bullshit will be here when you get back, spend the time you have with your loved ones.

Tony my dude. Please delegate more. Hopefully with the Elite out of Muffin Man jail, they can handle more of the day to day operations while Khan does what he has to do elsewhere.

Yeah, that’s a happy medium, especially since WWE seemed to be itching at the heels to have him back ready to say “War Games!” next year. And not to make it all about business and such, but considering the rumors of why Regal was going or how, it does put AEW in a position of strength in this of sorts and leaves both on a good note, something others could learn a bit from *cough*Andrade*cough*.

I just want Regal and Excalibur to address and have a proper climax to electric the sexual tension that's been brewing for months.
Seriously though, glad to hear it was wholly amicable.
Also glad to hear we never have to take anything EC3 says with any real legitimacy ever again and we can firmly slot him at the Konnan/Russo tier.

Tony Khan says William Regal's release dictates he is able to go back to WWE and coach, but not be able to go on-air in the next year. He says he was surprised by the tweet from WWE showcasing him on TV and didn't think it was in the spirit of how accommodating they were.
Stunning considering that Triple H has basically shown he has no respect for Tony since he took over.

Do people generally go around seeking advice from older co-workers in their own jobs? I haven't really seen it myself. And a decent proportion of younger pro-wrestlers are nerdy introverts off camera, so it's not overly surprising they aren't seeking out one on one chats with old guys they don't know. Yes, that’s definitely a thing in my field. Probably just depends on what the job is.

Just, not to beat this dead horse into the ground, but if me not affirmatively going out of my way to seek advice from more experienced co-workers was treated as "disrespect" and I was publicly criticized for it and/or my job was affected, I would be looking for a new place to work immediately.

You know it's kinda funny that people rip on AEW and they let Regal go when if this was WWE you'd get told to f*** off. WWE is notorious for not getting ripped on… They also have let some people out of their contracts when they’ve requested releases. They just did it with Toni Storm earlier this year, with Andrade last year, they did it with Juice Robinson years back, they let FTR out of their contracts a few months early. Obviously they’ve dug in on others that have requested releases, something AEW has done too.

In AEW's case there's a massive difference between approaching your boss and saying "look, I'd like to go back to WWE to oversee my son's career" and, say, sucker punching a coworker backstage and saying a bunch of dumb shit on Twitter to try and goad the company into releasing you. It's been that way with WWE too. WWE takes the most flack for how Luke Harper/Brodie Lee was handled (and, with the benefit of hindsight, rightfully so) but in the moment, I can see why WWE was a little salty with the way he went about trying to get released versus, say, a Toni Storm who approached them and asked to be let out early for mental health reasons.

Basically wanted to go back to coach his son at WWE and requested and Tony eventually agreed. He's with AEW through the holidays So you mean to tell me the shit EC3 said in an interview about Regal was complete bullshit? Color me super surprised If he's with them through the holiday's I kind of wonder if we'll get any more segments with him to write him off more so, or if that was it. Guess we'll see.

It shouldn't be notable but good to see TK treat people with human decency. Also good for Regal.
Sucks as a fan though but at least I got to enjoy his commentary again for a while.
Maybe Regal can help the two companies play nice, not expecting a working partnership but at least avoiding dick moves and maybe opening communication for special circumstances.

TK takes a lot of flack for being impulsive and immature, but he seemingly tends to make the right decisions when it comes to stuff like this.
I'm not at all saying that TK did this for strictly business purposes, because he really does seem like he wants to be as noble of a wrestling promoter as possible, but you gain next to nothing by keeping Regal locked in a contract after he politely asks for his release for all the right reasons.
But you do gain a fair amount of goodwill with a guy who's very well known and respected in the business, and who might just vouch for some great talent that WWE might one day release.

The only time Khan to my knowledge has not granted a release when asked was Malakai Black, and Malakai went on to say in a stream recently he's glad Tony Khan didn't grant it, because he was mentally not in a good place and he would have regretted it basically.

And Andrade, because Andrade decided to act like a douchenozzle on Twitter and punch Sammy Guevara backstage rather than just try and come to an agreement regarding his release.

Stunning considering that Triple H has basically shown he has no respect for Tony since he took over. Which in a way I can “get”, mostly because likely in his mind AEW was why his friends and colleagues got fired (as illogical as that is) but for all the shit talking Vince has done in shareholder’s meetings, at the very least he went through the proper channels for Jericho’s Steve Austin interview or the Danielson Raw cameo. HHH doesn’t seem interested in even that.

Despite the fact it was Vince's fault it ever happened in the first place.
