So for those not on Tumblr, the website has started to bring to life a Martin Scorsese movie that never existed, prompted by a pair of knockoff boots. And it's brilliant.

I love me some Goncharov (1973). Much better than that crappy 2006 remake. Because, apparently... everything has to have a remake. 😒

I love me some Goncharov (1973). Much better than that crappy 2006 remake. Because, apparently... everything has to have a remake. 😒 Less said about the animated adaption the better. They even left out the iconic line "How can time stand still and run out?".

It's been fun to see people run with the joke. One of my friends has cosplayed it for a photoshoot, and Goncharov has more fanfics about it on AO3 than James Cameron's Avatar does.

It definitely doesn't help that I don't think AO3 was around yet when Avatar hit, but yeaaah, couldn't tell you how many people may have written fics for fanfiction dot net, but if they did, they didn't stick with it enough to bother migrating the fics, even in that generous interpretation.
