Not gonna lie, when I saw the name Jack Perry, I thought that Punk had taken umbrage with the wording of a promo, approached Jack backstage, and told him "I'm the hottest bitch in this building!"

Let’s give Punk the benefit of the doubt about Jack Perry for a second here.

Let’s say that his side of the story is accurate and all he was doing as a 20-some-odd-year vet was stepping in to stop a younger guy from doing something dumb.

Okay, fine. But what good did the remark about Wednesday nights accomplish outside of making it look like yet another passive-aggressive shot at colleagues? In fact, it’s the exact same type of thing that Punk himself has taken umbrage with from others.

Basically, how can you fancy yourself a locker room leader who leads by example when you’ve made it quite clear that following your very example doesn’t sit well with you?

All jokes aside, these last couple of stories that have broken do kind of lend credence to the idea that Punk was given a corporate job within AEW, which makes him especially difficult to fire. 

Would also explain why he kept saying "I've got a company to run" during the initial scrum tirade.

Perry wanted to avoid Hook, so he planned to jump through an actual window would be my guess.
