Just pointing out for the sake of posterity that Miro has probably taken the most jabs at Punk of anyone, despite never having had a feud with him on screen, and Punk has not, and will not say a damn thing to him because he knows that Miro is not below him in the pecking order, and would also break him into 9 million pieces in a real fight. Sure, Jack Perry probably shouldn’t have said that on the air. But he’s just following the example of CM Punk, the guy who called out Hangman Page when he knew he wouldn’t come out in an attempt to make himself look like a tough guy. Perry is just following the example of the locker room leader. And what was Punk’s call out of Hangman in response to? None of this has ever been settled because they refuse to get in a room and talk it out. Petulant children, Punk, The Elite, the whole lot of them. He physically assaulted them. They do not owe him their time or forgiveness. |

But there were people here who sided with Andrade when he punched Sammy, it was embarrassing. I remember that being the case right up until the moment where the account that included "Andrade was told to stay away from Sammy and that he wouldn't be fired if he took the shot" came out. Like, yeah, Sammy and Andrade feuding on social media for days while Sammy was on vacation while everyoen was tired of Sammy looked a way. That really fell off once the fuller details made clear it wasn't just Another Sammy Incident. |

I can't help thinking of his fued with MJF, to most it's one of the high points in aew history.
Since then both seemingly had a backstage meltdown and a creative slump, although obviously the later is subjective.
However since then there's been no reports of backstage issues with MJF and creatively he's turned it around into one of the hottest runs we've seen in aew. He had 80k hanging on every move, gets massive pops from basic things like double dropkicks and double clotheslines and ended the show to a heroes reaction holding the aew title up high.
Meanwhile Punk is still fighting backstage, is opening the show with a much maligned pretend title while large sections of the crowd boo him.
Knowing how much the wm main event meant to him I can't help but think part of him was struggling with that difference. He saw himself coming to aew to be in that position and now he's watching a 27 year old having the equivalent moment to what he felt he was denied in WWE. Not only that but getting those reactions from essentially old school staples is what Punk is basing the whole of Collision on to less success.
Something that would all be made worse to him if the reports that MJF has no interest in working with him again are true.

Yeah, like Andrade straight up sucker punched Sammy. Only the most diehard Sammy haters would've faulted him for that.
And unlike a certain Pepsi enthusiast, Sammy seems to have matured a lot in the last year.

Iirc Sammy is the only one aside of CM Punk that got suspended twice in AEW, as much as people have clowned Jericho for years I gotta give props to him to helping rehabbing Sammys image.

One other benefit of Punk potentially departing is that it may lessen AEW's desire to hit up Chicago all the time. Tickets for All Out, Rampage, Collision and Dynamite are pretty easy to get right now. They're exhausting the market.

I’m dying at Miro constantly punking Punk out and he never makes it into any of his tirades or backstage nonsense. Miro is the absolute most fascinating part of the whole thing. Dude will just casually dunk on Punk, including at least once hitting the same notes that Hangman did, and he not only never gets singled out by Punk, he also ended up in the "Punk's Friends" locker room. Being a mountain of meat certainly has its advantages, it seems. |
