Why’d we change the subtitle to be about breaking the page thread record? I literally don’t get the interest in it, at least to the point of consciously trying to break a record. Like, why are we trying to make a sport out of news discussion? It should just be a coincidence that we set a record, not an actual objective. Wrestling Jorunalists know after a year of horribly covering CM Punk news that their reputations are in the toilet, and it's only getting worse These people are probably praying Punk is fired more than anyone else on the planet so they can stop talking about it. No they aren't. As much as they get shit and get it wrong, basically the bulk of their highest traffic stuff is almost entirely Punk related. They didn't get the Vince indicted stuff for weeks and they barely bother to ask tough questions about that, so Punk is their meal ticket at this point. This post and the fact that it’s true made me laugh out loud |

Alvarez has been wrong numerous times about AEW stuff and even in this very story he has already had to clarify things he reported like the "Brody broken hand" story. I guess it all depends on what you mean by being wrong. I listened to WOL. He said this was what he was told. And he's gotten enough right that clearly there are people there who are telling him what happened. The fact that they didn't tell him the tone of Miro/Punk's exchange or more specifics about Brody (who he didn't name) doesn't invalidate him. Wrestling fans should always take what wrestlers tell reports with some level of a grain of salt but I still want them to share what they're being told and if folks want to clarify, they're more than able to. |

People don't want to talk about Tony's issues with handling women's wrestling, Speaking Out wrestlers and their prevalence in all companies, or the myriad issues Vince brings on/openly traffic in because those are way more serious than this. All of this is goofy, it's soap opera-y, it's gossipy, and it really isn't that big of a deal to anyone inside or outside of that circle. It's wrestling outside of wrestling. And also, it's funny as shit. The other stuff isn't. |

It’s just amazing to think about how far we’ve come. The first several months of Punk’s run were so good and well received. All he needed to do was make it through the end of his contract without incident and he would have gone out on a great run that gave him a stellar legacy.
Instead, uh, this happened.

Yep choosing to stay out of that debate this late in the game...I caught a lot of bullets when the first one failed to hit the numbers and was saying that and the backlash on that thread was rough for awhile. Not proclaiming my innocence from testy banter just don't really get it either. Nothing to really celebrate at all here unfortunately. |

You know when you were at school and there was a group of cool kids that did lots of stuff together and made sure everyone knew how good buds they were, the amazing times they had together, and all of the in-jokes they had? There were always lots of friend groups that also had great times, but only one group that was obnoxious about making sure everyone else knew? That's the energy Punk, Danhausen, and Brody give off. I think Danhausen more or less owes his career in AEW to punk so there's some loyalty there.
And Punk is 100% that dude that'll do you a favor, say "Think nothing of it", and then subtly remind you of that time he did you a favor for the rest of your life.
Danhausen is in AEW because he made himself, in the words of Corey, “Ungoddamndeniable(hausen)” between his indie runs once he locked the character in and his run in ROH. Him and Phil (and Brody too for that matter) bonding over a love of punk and hardcore doesn’t exactly equate to what you’re describing. /just my 2 pennies |

Yeah I will say this Punk stuff has really been the worst "reporting" from these dirtsheets we've seen in a great while. Even during the "Reigns is being booed and still pushed over Ambrose and Rollinas" days we at least got good reporting. I can't really recall a time period where these insiders have been wrong this often. It's like AEW has some sort of barrier over it preventing reports from being right and I don't mean that in a good way because it's not all bad reporting, it's about good reporting too. Like, why wouldn't you want to report some good things your company is doing? I don't get it.

It’s just amazing to think about how far we’ve come. The first several months of Punk’s run were so good and well received. All he needed to do was make it through the end of his contract without incident and he would have gone out on a great run that gave him a stellar legacy. Instead, uh, this happened. Oh how I wish I could get a time machine and go back to tell my 2014 self what happened. I'd probably be more confused at how Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks helped make an actual number 2 wrestling promotion until the muffins come up. Now imagine going back to 2006 and telling people what happened. |

The vibe I've gotten is that yeah, it's money, but they also sound so exhausted of this shit after a point. Still, it's probably welcome post-Bray and Funk to have something stupid to talk about that isn't hugely tragic. |
