The only thing I will say is that, when I logged onto the forum just now for my daily dose of procrastination, there were 153 people viewing the AEW subforum, and only 26 viewing WWE.
Maybe Eric Bischoff was right all along re: controversy?

I honestly think they could of made something of the scrum if Punk apologized to the Elite and stayed cool afterwards, but now it’s way too late

I was totally on board with the comeback when you first made this thread. Now, it's just kind of the old "fool me once..." adage. Dude couldn't even make it 3 months without another highly public and physical backstage incident which put a damper on a huge show. I just can't see the benefit in bringing him back, especially if MJF and the Elite aren't even willing to work a program with him.

lmao it's funny to me that we've got a 734 page thread about Punk, after a 600+ page thread about Punk, and we've closed a 10 page Punk appreciation thread because of uselessness and people making fun of the person updating it. Dude has fallen so far in the eyes of people on this board that an appreciation thread gets closed because its useless and to protect the person updating it.

This could be the de facto "Appreciation" post, where the appreciation comes in the sense of community shaking our collective heads in disappointment and derision towards CM Phil.

Maybe Eric Bischoff was right all along re: controversy? It's all about whether people will pay money as well as attention, though. If Punk is pulled from All Out, then we miss out on a likely Punk vs. Starks match. If Punk hadn't done the first scrum rant, I would have paid the money for just Punk vs. Starks. Now I might not pay for All Out at all, because not only is Punk vs. Starks likely to not be on the card, my interest in it was tanked a year ago. That's two different ways that Punk's antics may prod my decision toward not spending money on AEW.

I think the Collision numbers sort of speak for themselves on if CM Punk is still a "draw" in the traditional sense.

I know it is brought up in passing every few days but it is still mindboggling that we are only about two weeks from the reigning tag team champion getting arrested for felony assault/road rage...Guy was on TV for weeks with an active warrant and one of his friends is a big enough personal asshole to overshadow all of that...
It's like an unattractive person surrounding themselves by even more unattractive people to better their odds haha

If the lunge thing is even remotely true that makes Punk whining through Hausman about Tony not talking to him even funnier.

I started wavering on the Punk train, to be very specific, in the press conference/weigh-in the night before his first UFC fight where he did nothing but big leaguing childish wrestling shit. When you make yourself look that embarrassingly immature in a UFC environment of all places, it's bad. It solidified every criticism of him "taking a spot" in UFC as completely spot-on and valid.
But we all have off days. The point of no return was not paying for Colt's costs in the lawsuit like he said he would. Once that got out, it was like "Wow, this guy sucks. What a shitty thing to do." And then the more and more pieces that come out about that, like the judge dismissing the initial filing from Colt "with prejudice" meaning he definitely saw something there but needed the lawyers to word it differently, to the reason for the falling out being Punk getting buyers remorse and using Colt getting pizza with Sami, Kevin and PAC as a reason to cut him out and think he "betrayed him," to the absolutely gross bringing Colt's mom into it and trying to make the very real very America "sharing a bank account with your Mom" taking care of your parents consideration seem like a bad thing. Just abhorrent.
And I used to absolutely love his work. He just drags everything down around him. I don't know if the present-day Punk fans still adore him as some sort of wish-fulfillment or a nostalgia for where they were in their lives when he was on top, or just a level of blinders where they can just take when they see of the guy that airs on television and then project that into the only way they perceive how he is in his everyday life - but I think everyone will eventually either hit their limit on Punk or just full-on identify as a bigger fan of Punk himself than the medium of wrestling itself.
