Can the TV be salvaged? I came home and noticed something was up with one of the TVs in the house. I didn't leave it on, but I heard a weird sound. Next thing I saw was that it was wet and looked up at the ceiling and saw that it was leaking. I quickly turned off the surge protector and unplugged the TV and set it aside. It didn't appear that a lot of water went into it. What should I do about this TV? I have had it since either 2010 or 2011.

Probably time for a TV upgrade having it for 12 years anyways but hope you can salvage it. I bought a 60 inch at Best Buy 4 years ago and was only 299 bucks and still works great and I leave it on pretty much all the time since I work from home.

What kind of weird sound did you hear? I'd say let it dry. If possible, open the case so it can dry faster. When it's dry, test it. If no electricity went through the wet parts, chances are good your tv is ok.

You can probably find someone willing to fix it, but new TVs really aren't that expensive anymore.
I'd be real surprised if you couldn't get a comparable one for the equivalent cost of a fix.

I have had it since either 2010 or 2011. It’s been over 12 years; unless that thing is a CRT, at this point let it go. The cost of repairs are going to be more than whatever that television is worth at this point (seriously, you can pick up a good 4K HDR 65 inch for under $500 nowadays). Like others have said I’d be more worried about fixing the far more costly leaks in your house than the

first fix the leak so it's no longer raining in your house, then see if your tv can be salvaged

Buy a new TV and put it in the same spot. No way it'll happen twice!
But no, probably should fix your roof first.

Here is an update about that problem. The leak has been fixed. It had something to do with the chimney and leaves clogging the roof gutters. There were some minor cracks on the roof but had been caulked. There was a heavy storm this past weekend and I checked that room hourly. No leaks.
However, because it had been more than a week, I checked the TV. It appears done, unless I get it repaired. I think it would be cheaper to replace than have it repaired.

12 year old TV is archaic. Even if it can be salvaged the time and effort would be greater than the cost of a new set
