Rampage is a fun watch most weeks, but the cards on paper don't exactly scream "must watch." Really wonder if Tony Khan phones in the booking on paper because of the timeslot. Then again, Rampage is also a heavily DVR'd show. Tony could just say "Look at how great we do with DVR+3 and +7. Give us a better timeslot and more of those translate to live numbers." Tony also says from time to time in interviews that he “wants to make Rampage feel more important again.” But his booking says otherwise? So IDK what he’s thinking right now? But as I said above, things have been happening on Rampage, people just look at the cards and assume nothing ever does. Some weeks are a bit lesser than others but I can't say Tony isn't trying to make things happen with other parts of the roster. But then when he tries to, people shit on the cards and say that certain people wrestling means that the matches are meaningless and unwatchable, so it's kind of a situation where you can't win I know some wrestlers people like also aren't getting features where people want them to, but in bringing up Kip getting a program with Cassidy for the AAC, he's just cast off as "Box Jobber" by some people here and the potential feud that could go with it. Again, it's an unwinnable situation with people because they've just decided to stop caring about people, you can partly blame that on AEW's booking, but when they do finally get a program for someone, that mentality kind of just self fulfills the prophecy so to speak Idk as I said Im kinda sick, and rambling at this point, I just think Rampage gets a bad rep because it does lower numbers in a death slot (And notoriously gets high DVR numbers so people ARE watching the show, just not live), so I feel like we put a lot of stock in these ratings where if the higher ups are happy with what they get, ultimately Rampage will keep chuggin on.

Seriously, just make Rampage the ROH weekly show. Separate your roster (giving more guys TV time), have unique storylines that don't intersect with AEW save for maybe a big supershow once a year, and see how it goes. A weekly ROH with different stuff happening would be at least more interesting than Friday Night Heat. I doubt WB would go for it really. AEW has significantly more name value than ROH does, repackaging Rampage into an ROH show with the same timeslot would probably just make the ratings even worse. Yep, that's super not happening from a contract perspective. It'd also be really short-sighted when he's trying to shop ROH around still as its own entity.

Other than Punk’s return, was there a single instance where Rampage was important? Some of the 2 hour ones had a ton going on and felt like Dynamite extensions. Since this Summer, it feels like a slightly more important AEW Dark.

This wasn't the Black Friday Rampage. The Black Friday one was two weeks ago. This was for this past Fri. It was on at its regular time. I'm a bit sick right now so I apologize if Time's not very linear Still wonder if that mattered at all, sometimes things can be weird when shows change time and then go back for a week or two It's all good. Hope you feel better asap and are back to full health!!! As for whether or not the time change back to its regular time affected how horrible the rating was, we'll see how Rampage this Fri does. I'm not very optimistic.

Thank ya, it's mainly a nasty cough, I hate it It's again something to factor in that the show usually gets a ton of DVR viewers, live viewers matter and it's lower than it usually has been right now, but it's again, a deathslot, even on nights the show has been stacked the ratings have been in the half million range Pre-Tapes plus spoilers can also not make people watch shows, I feel like when it's live, it does better sometimes too.

For a second there I wondered what the hell had happened to Smackdown's rating, then I noticed it was a different channel.
I haven't watched Rampage regularly for ages. It really does inconsequential these days.
It used to be a really fun show. Hook's entire career began on Rampage, don't forget. There should be at least one must-watch match a week on the show but there never is anymore.

It's settled. No more lumberjack matches ever! In the history of wrestling, how many good lumberjack matches have there been? Rollins/Ambrose at Summerslam 2014 was a fun brawl. I guess you could count the Mankind/Rock “Butts in the Seats” title match on Raw as an unofficial one. What else?

It's not even that it's bad, but it just isn't conducive to making a match better. Which is definitely weird, since the build to Ambrose/Rollins made clear that there are some really good story reasons to do the stipulation. Ambrose sold the hell out of it as a concept in his promos. It's one of the match types that makes me wonder if a lot of stipulations just stick around out of nostalgia for a time period when they offered something different and interesting, even though that niche has been filled by other match types since. The Survivor Series Elimination Match is the other one I've thought that about.

Rampage is a really good hour of wrestling, but I’m almost never gonna be in a position to watch an hour of wrestling at 10 on a Friday.
I honestly view Rampage the same as I view as Dark and Elevation. Fun hours of wrestling to watch at some point during the week when I have time.
Obviously that’s not what they really want Rampage to be, but it’s really going to take a few really meaningful matches and storylines to stem the tide, because it’s been kind of an inconsequential show for so long at this point.

I don't understand how you have a bloated roster and put on a weak rampage every week. I used to think Kahn just needed more TV time to showcase his talent but rampage just feels like the youtube shows it's genuinely shite there is zero incentive to watch it they gotta do better.

It's settled. No more lumberjack matches ever! The lumberjack match actually gained viewers and was the most watched segment of the entire show which is pretty rare for a Rampage main event.

The Luchasaurus vs Wardlow one was good. I think what made that work was it was two guys who the lumberjacks made seem enormous and like they couldn't keep them contained in the ring. I think of Lumberjack matches the same way I do Battle Royals: Gets a bunch of people onscreen. Usually kind of filler, though.

Make Rampage a one-hour show, led by RJ City, in the vein of late-night talk shows but involving the wrestlers.

Good for OC though! I don’t know if anyone else said anything about it in the thread, but I saw the quarter hours because I subscribe to Wrestlenomics patreon. I’m always happy to see OC’s segments gain viewers!

The competition last week was College Football(bowl games), if Rampage doesnt get at least a 0.10 this week then that show is cooked...
