We'll all be able to hear it when the free podcast drops, but... uhh, damn, JR, tell us how you really feel. He's not wrong, but JR rarely drags out dirty laundry to burn it in public like that.
“I had a hard time as time went on trusting Laurinaitis. That’s sad to say. I hired him. I gave him a job when he needed it. I don’t think he treated me quite right. He just wanted to show Vince that he was a better manager than JR and all these things. So now his ass is without a job and he deserves the Goddamn misery that he’s living, that I perceive that he’s living, and I didn’t like how he treated me.”

Good. Guy was a scumbag deluxe. And his people power character was annoying and not funny.

I’d like to think that JR is burying him for all of the creep stuff that he did, but he’s probably just mad that Johnny Ace replaced him in the Talent relations role or whatever.

I am honestly not sure how much I've heard anyone in wrestling compliment Ace. Lance Storm liked him in WCW because he found he was one of the easier management types to work with, and DDP enjoyed stealing his finisher and a bunch of variations on it and getting the credit for it, but that's about it.

I can totally understand as someone whose been politically manipulated at a job by someone I helped bring in, I get it.
But JR by all accounts is just as much a political animal. It's in the DNA of business.

Yeah JR doesn't come across well in that extract as Johnny's crimes are a lot worse than his treatment of JR. However it's removed from the full context so can't really judge.

I'm curious how he treated Jim badly. If it's just a case of he got the job Jim had, isn't that a Vince decision?

JR's not wrong but man maybe just like the slightest bit fo connective tissue to the guy's actual crimes? "He just wanted to show he was a better manager than JR but then abused the leverage of his position for sexual favours from women" or. Something. I dunno. Just any piece that might maybe frame it like the big failing was still the horrible shit he did with his power rather than just "yeah he took this spot from me and I guess he did stuff with it but he's gone now".

I mean Ace was considered fairly bad at his job even before the scummy stories came out. I can't say I entirely blame JR if he focused on how how incompetent he was at it given that's likely what Ross likely was exposed to far more often.

Ace was the guy who was told to go out and specifically hire Zach Gowen, and then proceeded to hire a completely different indie wrestler who just also happened to be working with a prosthetic leg.

People who dealt with him as an agent in WCW seem to like him, but even they said he was in way over his had when taking over for JR. I think the only person I heard say anything nice about him in that role was Charlie Haas who said Johnny offered to reach out to connections in Japan to help him out. Aside from that? Nicest thing I've heard is Kevin Nash and Sean Waltman saying that a lot of the hate Johnny got from the locker room in terms of lies/broken promises shouldn't have been directed at him, but Johnny had no issue being viewed as the bad guy and getting the heat so more power to him... but Nash also called him a tool

There's a shoot interview with a stoned Godfather which from about 15 years ago which is great as he basically loves everyone in wrestling ever. All his opponents, colleagues, people who got pushed instead of him, bookers. Everyone... except Johnny Ace, who he hates.

Is there ANYONE that's more universally hated in WWE management than Ace? Dunn, maybe?

I think I remember this story.
Ace is told to hire Gowen, because his small body, literal baby face, and prosthetic leg makes for the ultimate sympathetic jobber/underdog babyface.
Ace instead gets a dude who is apparently pretty big and burly and looks like he'd belong in DOA more than anything else... but at least has the prosthetic leg.

I thought that JR quit the talent relations job? As others have stated, like Bruce, it is the absolute worst job in wrestling since you are always the 'bad news' guy. I'd imagine that has to wear on you after a bit.
