would you have supported this decision? I heard the plan was for Taker to go heel and take the title from Eddie at Summerslam (hell in Day of Reckoning, Taker was the heel). Now a face Taker vs heel Eddie fued I could see, but what about a face Eddie vs heel Taker? JBL was a great foil to both Eddie and Cena, but would it have been the same for Taker? Now Cena beating Taker would of been a great rub for him Forsure

I think anyone breaking the streak before 2009 or so isn't as iconic as Brock doing it.
They started talking it up I think around 2002 but it became absolutely legendary with the HBK/HHH series of matches. Before that it was a cool little thing. After it was absolutely iconic, a major part of his legacy and the top draw of Wrestlemania every year other than the main event.
Like Randy Orton beating him in 2005 would have been nice for his legend killer gimmick but it wouldn't get the all-time shock reaction that it ended up being.

A little disappointed but not surprised giving how hot Cena was then. I think it would have got mixed reactions as this was about the time people were starting to get sick of "Super Cena".

Have a hard time coming up with a bigger missed opportunity in modern pro-wrestling than Super Cena vs The Streak.

Have a hard time coming up with a bigger missed opportunity in modern pro-wrestling than Super Cena vs The Streak. Agreed, 2013 was the time to do this when Taker could still go. The Rock could have faced CM Punk instead. Or hell they could have done something like The Rock and The Uso's vs The Shield and had Roman pin The Rock.

Cena doing that in 2005 would be weird. Like, he was arguably one of the top babyfaces already by that point, but hadn’t even gotten the crown to cap it off yet, let alone have the crowd turn on him en masse. And the streak was not yet at this mythical level of “Whoever ends this is a made man”.
If you’re fishing for the reaction of “I’D BE BLOODY OUTRAGED”, 2005 isn’t the year that gets you that reaction. Any time between 2006 and 2014 probably would.

I still don't think the streak should have been broken, but I think this would have killed Cena's momentum to become the guy.

Cena wasn't ready for that yet at WM21. I thought Orton could have.

I think it would have got mixed reactions as this was about the time people were starting to get sick of "Super Cena". 2005 would be Wrestlemania 21... Cena was still super popular at the time, he also wasn't "The guy" at that point. 21 is where Cena's championship coronation at mania was cut short for Batista/HHH to get more time afterall.
