AEW really needs to look at what they're doing, which was [checks notes] broadcast their show during a big television outage.
Of all the threads to try and drop that nugget into, this sure is the one.

I think people would dunk on AEW ratings less if just once hardcore AEW fans would go - ooof yeah bad rating, they need to look at what they are doing. It’s always some explanation any time a number dips. But like...what exactly is the point of fans expressing this "They need to look at what they are doing" sentiment? Should fans who are enjoying the show openly express how they want the show to change in a way they would enjoy less? Should those fans consider the show's success more important than their own entertainment? There are absolutely people who like to play the "we're actually winning" game because they're treating their fandom like a sports game that they're watching, but that's not everybody. If I'm enjoying the show, it's Tony Khan's problem if the numbers aren't working out. I can express what I do and don't enjoy, and take interest in whether that's broadly successful or not, and react with understanding if the show changes in some way that's necessary to keep it afloat. But ultimately, I can't meaningfully affect the show's success, nor would I prioritize that success over what I do or do not like about it.

Pretty good since Meltzer was worried that the Spectrum cable issues might hurt it (the NHL as well). I think the NHL on TNT did something like 240k so with a Spectrum outage, 840k is pretty strong. edit: I know that if my cable was out until 9pm I would have just played video games or chucked on netflix.

Never had an NBA Team here in Pittsburgh so never got as invested in the NBA in particular teams like the NFL and NHL like I've always had with the Steelers and Penguins. Closest I ever got invested was Jordan with the Bulls and Kobe with the Lakers but that wasn't really the same since they weren't my hometown teams. Lebron is cool just never got that invested probably since he's a Cleveland guy and Pittsburgh hates Cleveland. How come they get an NBA team and we don't? I remember asking that question to my dad since I was a kid LOL. Cincinnati here, and I’m right there with you. The NBA was cool in the days of Jordan & later Kobe, but it’s just been kind of there for me otherwise (except when I can watch out-of-market broadcasts because I’m a media geek). I was mostly only interested in MLB & NFL because of the Reds & Bengals, though I’m a bit more interested these days in Major League Soccer because of FC Cincinnati. That being said, NBA was a bit more interesting when the Cavs & Pacers had their deep runs in recent years since they’re the closest things we have to home teams here (same with NHL & the Columbus Blue Jackets).

The only spectrum I see is the spectrum of lies and tears being shed as the clock tolls ever louder. Does it scare you that every passing day, your indie wrestling Barbie dream house looks more and more like it'll be foreclosed on? Muffle your sobs in another lame indie t-shirt and accept that the day of reckoning is soon nigh and Tony Khan will pay in blood for his sins. Look at Karrion Kross Jones over here…

They’ve super protected Jade so much that they’ve booked themselves into a corner.
They cannot put her up against the actual credible women. So she’s feuding with women who have no momentum and aren’t presented as a big deal. And no one buys she’s going to lose, so there’s zero reason to care.

The undefeated streak, now that it even applies to tag matches, is quickly becoming an albatross. The sooner she loses even just one match, the better it will be for her in the long run.

Sasha/Mercedes seems to be the one that will beat Jade since they're hyping up Saraya's mystery partner 5 weeks in advance. Just my opinion as I can't think of anyone else available that would be worth that sort of hype.

Also the TBS Belt might as well be the FTW Title as well. It’s just the “Jade prop belt” at this point. And the sooner that changes, the better as well.

Life isn’t fair. They were doing a million and over when the shows were kinda lame. They’ve been solid as all hell the last three weeks and came in lower.

Dave said TBS was thrilled with the number given the technical issues so it seems like it was a win from their perspective. Having a strong card next week coming out of this should set them up well.
