I don't know why it tickles me so much that Meltzer always refers to Rock as Dwayne Johnson. I think when you're talking in a wrestling context it would just be easier to say The Rock.

Can’t see this working out well. Imo the Thing is for this to work out and make the most sense is that Roman needs to defeat The Rock than lose to Cody. But A) There’s no way Roman/Rock wouldn’t be the “real headliner” and close the weekend on Sunday. And If Roman beats Rock on Sunday, it will either be very predictable that Cody wins or a major letdown if he loses.

It's better than nothing I guess but I don't know what the f*** you do with the Universal title after that in that case. Other than Cody no one else is even kinda positioned as a believable threat to it and after Cody and the Rock there's nobody really left for him to defend it against on either brand. Even though I agree Roman should drop the belt at Mania, there are still people he can defend against like Sami, face Seth, AJ, Lashley, Austin Theory, Orton (if he recovers). With a part time schedule that can get him to Mania 40 Orton had fusion surgery on his back, and judging by how it was reported that there were people in WWE who said that they would be lucky if Orton came back at all, it was on the L5. It would be nothing short of miraculous if Orton returned and was cleared before 'mania 40, and sadly there is a not insignificant chance that Randy is done. Seth has faced Roman once already, there isn't much meat left in that feud should they revisit it. Austin Theory is the dude that decided to cash in on the US title instead of taking on Roman, that is a massive sell job to even make Theory partly credible against Roman. They have Sami and Lashley, but that won't stretch to WM40. And the idea of Roman being part time and holding the belt is an awful idea, it has already made Raw look second rate.

Nah because mania would end again as Roman being the final boss. It would take away from Cody.

All that having Roman defend/main event both nights does is take away from one of the matches.

I don't really see any problem with Roman having two matches because the Rock one would probably only be like four minutes and be terrible anyway and it's not like there would be the slightest bit of doubt about the winner.

I think it would just be kinda jarring if Roman were to finally lose after 3 years in what should be this monumental moment and maybe even the end of his heel run then for him to pop back up 24 hours later and get a big win. Ideally once he loses he should disappear for a while to regroup. I know technically you could have Roman beat Rock on night 1 then drop the title on night 2 but I don't see any reality in which if Rock is wrestling it's not night 2. That's clearly considered THE main event.

I have been saying the entire time that this is the right approach and if this is the case, it’s the most marketable you could do.
Roman’s the top dog, Cody’s over as anything, Rock is Rock, you could very easily make a story where Rock and Roman face night one and Cody, winner of the Rumble, faces the winner (Roman) on night two. You get the casual ticket with a Rock match, you make people actually care about a WM Night One with stakes going towards Night Two and you can big up both men’s generational connections.
So many wins.

Seth lost last time, but he really got under his skin. They left that story with lots of mileage still in it. IIRC, Seth only lost via DQ, and it wasn’t a definitive defeat by Roman.

As much as I'd love to see Rock/Roman, even if it can't happen I look forward to the day when that becomes clear because all the top plans for Wrestlemania basically seem to be in limbo and based on whether or not he will be there or not. Not sure if this is 100% accurate/up to date, but it has Red Notice 2 and 3 being filmed back to back starting January 2. productionlist.com/production/untitled-red-notice-sequels/The first Red Notice took around a combined 3 months to shoot (Jan-Mar 2020 then shut down due to COVID and finished off in Sep-Oct). If that January filming date is accurate then I don't see how a Wrestlemania feud/match is possible.

Okay. I'm locking this. If you're going to post something that isn't DIRECTLY FROM WO/F4W, SRS, or PWINSIDER do not list them as the source, your source listed needs to be the site you got it from. I do not care if they are directly quoting them, if it isn't from their site they are not the source.
