Nobody would be chanting "Let's go jobber" at any of the guys you mentioned and that alone is precisely why ok. I get that point. My thinking is wouldn't be better for someone ready for that spot right? alike this dude should be getting a fairly big push because if this isn't followed quickly or this guy isn't ready it seems like waste imo. I mean, that scenario would come up if it was a Shawn Dean type, wouldn’t it?

The only guy already on the AEW roster that I could see it working with is Serpentico.

I guess my main question is will Action be on TV more like lightning kid/123 kid was in 1993 or is he going to cook more on Dark and stuff?
Just feels like that moment or a moment similar could've been done with talent that was already signed and could've used a push.

My guess is Jericho is going to want to murder this dude coming up soon. I don't think he's going to disappear anytime soon. I will say, I think pairing him up with Top Flight might be a good fit. Similar styles and a run in the Trios division could be a good start. Plus if one of Top Flight gets injured again there can be tag team matches still.

Congratulations to him and props to Jericho, but my thought watching this wasn't there somebody you can do this with that's already somewhat know and has been in the company longer? It just felt weird to give him that spotlight over others imo. examples Shawn Dean, Either Private Party members, Lee Johnson, Takeshita, AR Fox. It’s not that special of a moment that you remember if it’s anything but an unknown guy. Yeah, it would be a surprise if Takeshita won, but I think we all know he’s a guy they see having a future. So it wouldn’t be earth shattering if he got the huge win. But to take a guy no one knew and have them slowly want him to win, then believe he can win is a pretty special thing you can probably only do once every several years. That specific combo makes it a special moment that people won’t forget AND creates buzz on a new guy right away. And props to Jericho for doing the match exactly right. He told the story and had the right reactions for it.

Alvarez talked about this again on WOL today. Jericho had been wanting to have a 123 Kid/Razor moment with an unknown and was looking for the right person to do it with. He saw Andretti wrestle QT on Dark and decided then that's who he wanted to do the angle with. So Andretti has been signed since the QT match and they were waiting for Jericho's ROH title run to be done to do this. But he's been handpicked by Jericho.

Just feels like that moment or a moment similar could've been done with talent that was already signed and could've used a push. I think it was just one of those once in a lifetime moments, though. I know that's crazy to say, but the amount that needed to go right last night to pull off what they did is pretty wild. If that crowd wasn't right, if they didn't lay out that match like they did and/or if either Jericho or AA didn't show up, we're not talking about this positively today. I think he'll be a regular on Dynamite for a bit but will probably pull double duty and cook on Dark a bit, too. I think they know they can't just pull the "wins on Dynamite and then goes to Dark" routine with him. I think they're going to see what happens, for better or worse. What I will say, though, is that it does point out there's an argument to be made about the roster size. They're adding another babyface to an already bloated roster, but it was a special moment, so I'm personally willing to overlook it. I get why others could argue about it in good faith, though.

Like, we have to remember, people throw out the Waltman comparisons, Waltman was at least “established” on TV as a jobber for a few weeks before the Ramon match. Andretti’s last match in AEW was literally the QT match a couple of months ago.

Jericho wanted it to be an unknown

That was AEW’s version of John Cena vs Kurt Angle except that guy actually won.

Andretti being a complete unknown to anyone but CZW fans and the handful of people who've seen him in other indies is why it worked so well. The established jobbers are familiar and even have some wins on their names on Dark and Elevation (hell, Shawn Dean has two wins against the current AEW Champion!). Andretti was essentially the level of "local enhancement talent."

I would like to see Menard and/or Parker challenge Andretti but realize that they can't beat him otherwise it makes Jericho look even worse.
Also I want QT Marshall to rub it in as well, he beat him.

For his experience level, he was damn good outside of the lead up to the finish, but that comes with time.

Another layer that I haven't seen mentioned is that in the segment before, Jericho basically told off Daniel Garcia for losing and told him to follow Sammy Guevara.
A seed to the possible Garcia VS Jericho feud

I do think the next step is Jericho gets a personal vendetta against the kid, and starts throwing guys like Mernard and Parker at him, guys who can easily take the singles losses, and Andretti beats them too
Maybe he faces Hager and wins by countout even
Jericho wants to prove it was a fluke and sends his flunkies at him, because he's afraid of losing twice, but Andretti just keeps beating them.
I also agree he'd be great with Top Flight if they don't stick with AR Fox as the third member.

Jericho handpicked him for the moment after he impressed on DARK He's young into the business, but if Chris Jericho points and says "I want you", then there's something there. And I highly doubt this ends here.

A seed to the possible Garcia VS Jericho feud It should be, and probably the beginning of the end for the JAS. I personally would be pretty narked if I had to follow around a twat of the highest order like Guevara.

Sigh.
Another regular guy with short hair, in tights and kickpads.
Basically no different to Dante Martin and Will Osperay for example.

Another regular guy with short hair, in tights and kickpads. Thats kind of the point. Dude looked like an enhancement talent. If he didn't, the whole thing wouldn't have had the same impact. Dude won't be a regular guy when Jericho is finished with him.

Sigh. Another regular guy with short hair, in tights and kickpads. Basically no different to Dante Martin and Will Osperay for example. It was his first Dynamite appearance. Give him a few appearances before dismissing the look right off the bat. Dudes alway look bland as hell starting out (remembers whatever the hell The Rock wore at first).
