Bret for me. One of my big "what if" scenarios is "What if the WWF had been in a place to market Bret Hart matches on their quality?", the way they'd later do for Michaels in the 00's, and I really want to see what that would look like.

Syco SID would be a meme machine and he'd probably be a more fun Braun Strowman. My second vote wouldve been for Hakushi. He just rules.

I had thought Hakushi, but I have doubts about even the current WWE to book him properly. His gimmick was very strange (especially in the US) and completely irony-free. WWE bookers and audiences like it when people are able to pivot to comedy or "coolness," and so Hakushi's gonna struggle.
Then I thought Waltman, but then I realized, if we're bringing in everything, we're bringing in his little shithead personality, too. Maybe with a different backstage culture he'd mature much faster into his current wise self, but it's risky.
...huh, this is actually leading me down a very weird side-path of this thought experiment, which is trying to figure out which wrestlers' personal problems would primarily be fixed if the WWE backstage is suddenly a much healthier and less enabling place. Would Doink and Jannetty and Bam Bam and Skip all still have drug problems? This is actually making me seriously want to say Skip as my answer, because he'd slot in to the modern wrestling style perfectly and the dumb gimmick is actually one that would still work fine.
Or Flash Funk. Scorpio always deserved more of a real chance in the WWF.

This is a very interesting thread good stuff OP.
I think the answer is any of the giants. Physical size is lost in today’s product. In no way does that make things worse/better but it does make it different. Someone with real size who could work would be a cash cow today (pun intended?). Guys like Vader, and Bam Bam would be massive stars. Probably headlining Wrestlemania.
I voted Yokozuna. 93/94 Yoko is one of the more underrated in ring workers WWE had. He used his size so well. I’d kill to see him with practically anyone. How would Seth work him? Or KO? Could you imagine Rey Mysterio vs Yokozuna?

Lost in today's product is the land of some giants and larger than life guys. They also have to be booked properly too. Braun just feels like a regular guy today. Where as if someone like Yokozuna was around, perhaps they book him better. Yoko is the OG protector of Roman would be amazing. Anytime someone is involved in Bloodline business, Roman will send Yoko to stick them. The visual of Roman giving Banzai's to Owens, Zayn, Logan Paul, R-Truth and Matt Riddle to name a few, would make TV so much better than it already is with the Bloodline. Roman sticking Yoko on Jey during the main event Jey era, would've been must see TV.

I voted for Bret if only cause I know he’d blow my mind cooking up something with Brock Lesnar.

I voted for Bret if only cause I know he’d blow my mind cooking up something with Brock Lesnar. New Generation Era Bret, I kinda would have him against Kevin Owens if anyone. Owens is pretty much becoming the closest thing to a modern day Stone Cold we have in this era, and we saw what Bret and Austin did with each other...

More into Lesnar matchup purely outta curiosity of how Bret would work around the challenge of Lesnar’s style.
