Only a week to go until 2023. I'll start:
2022 was pretty good to me after the insanity of 2021:
-I got to finally do the NSCC (National Sports Collector's Convention) in the summer which although a madhouse by the afternoon was a event I've wanted to do for about a decade now.
-I pretty much put my autograph collection on hold and have started to collect cards again. I learned in the spring that a card store had opened in 2021 that's on the bus route.
-The verbally abusive Deputy Clerk finally retired (Thursday was their last day) and my boss got her job. I am going to be gunning for his archivist position and either way should be going full time next year.
-There are a few cons though. My apartment complex is really getting more run down and my parents health have gone down a bit (Mom's losing hearing in her left ear and my Dad's Parkinson's has progressed a bit more.)
All in all a great year and I'm hoping for an even better 2023.

I splashed a lot of cash on commissioning comic strips, some of my projects I think cost a little much though, so I will be scaling back a little next year. Nevertheless, I am proud of the achievement of finally plotting out comics, even if it's not an official capacity for any of the big two.
Unfortunately, I also attracted a stalker troll this year who kept harassing me, driving me off of the Casting Call website.
I briefly joined Twitter and had some success there speaking my mind on Marvel and promoting my comics, but ultimately with Musk looming I didn't think it was worth wading through the online landmine.

I don't know. It had its good moments, its bad moments.
My mother and grandmother both got COVID mid-November and canceled Thanksgiving. They're doing fine now, but it was iffy for a bit there. Because of this, I canceled my tickets to the anime convention that would've been in a week for the fourth year in a row, didn't feel like making the risk this soon. Didn't do well on NaNoWriMo because of everything else going on in November, but my average word count for the year was well over 12,000 words a month so I guess I'll take it.
Went to my first WWE event since 2019, had a pretty good time. Managed to get Matt Ryan's autograph a couple weeks ago, which I've been hoping and waiting for an opportunity to do for a year.
Beyond that, mostly been a status quo sort of year.

The pros out weighed the cons.
Got to travel a tiny bit. Hit up 11 shows. Side business are both doing good and slowly growing.
Really only bad parts was for the first time in my life I got the flu,Thanksgiving week... Then close to a month ago my father had a heart attack. He recovered fast and is working on improving hiss health more.
Oh forgot a great change, after close to 10 years of her schedule being different every week, now she works the same pattern of days every month.

Pretty bad year for me, in all honesty.
- Got a cyst on my tailbone back in May and needed surgery to remove it. Probably the worst pain of my life. It left me with a big open wound in my back which required packing every day. It’s fully healed now, but I’m still really cautious and go through bouts of paranoia.
-Got COVID for the first time over the summer. *Michael Cole voice* The streak . . . is over.
-Debt card got compromised at the start of the year and I was a victim of bank fraud at the end.
But it wasn’t all bad!
- Saw Survivor Series live and it was a blast.
- Met plenty of new people.
- Had a nice vacation in Cape Cod.
- Most importantly, I’ve survived.

Eh I guess. It's been a really tough year that I'm struggling to immediately think of much great stuff I had going on. But nothing like overtly bad either?

First half was amazing. Then the GF fired my ass and the second half has been up and down. Overall life is good though, no reason for me to complain.

Major work related disappointment this Summer cast a pall over everything else this year.
But other than that it's been pretty solid. I hate looking more than a couple weeks ahead because the last couple years it's felt like that's about all it's safe to, but I'm cautiously optimistic about 2023.

It had good and bad points but felt like life was getting back to normal after the Pandemic
Bad:
Got Covid in March was off work for a week Had a cyst grow to a painful size almost putting my holiday to Belfast in jeopardy Losing my luggage for 12 days in New Zealand/Australia My Grandad’s continued problems with dementia which will only get worse Housemate moved into our house who was loud and drunk all the time thankfully he was chucked out after 3 months
Good:
My nephew was born and got to visit him and my sister in Australia. Was the first time I’d seen my sister in 3 years Saw Clash At The Castle live in Cardiff Saw Iron Maiden live in Belfast Saw Arsenal live for the first time since before the pandemic. Went back to work at Gatwick Airport after it was shut for 2 years because of the pandemic.

![](https://media.tenor.com/u0a4cLZKbdEAAAAC/chernobyl-not-great-not-terrible.gif) The biggest negative is that, at the age of 41, I have had to move back in with my parents because of my landlord choosing to hike the rent by 35% "due to the UK's raised energy costs" (which amounted to a total of over £1,500 extra rent per month between me and my roommates, far in excess of the rise in costs). This has had the knock-on effect of relying on carpooling to work three shifts out of five and taking the train the other two, and at the weekends when I see my son. The further downside of that is train strikes have frequently prevented me from getting to work and seeing my son. Also, being 41 isn't great. I recognise I am now at the age where my body isn't quite as strong as it used to be and more prone to doing things like meniscus tears from just walking (as happened to me in June) and requiring glasses (July). More positively, I have been able to put together more savings in the last seven months than I have in the last ten years, which I am going to put towards getting a driver's license and finding a home in a less expensive area. I've also managed to reconnect with some old friends, one of whom I hadn't seen since 2009.

Overall not a bad year. The good outweigh the bad.
Good:
Got a new job than allows me to have weekends off and most holidays. Plus pays better. After two years of talking online with Lita, meet her in person and got to interview her. While doing so meet Trish Stratus and Mickie James for the second time. As well as meeting up with other people from Lita's community and went as a group. That allowed me to travel for the first time in seems like ages Got to go to a lot of Hockey games my other passion fandom. Got to go to the Royal Rumble to see one of my favorites Lita return to the ring. 20 year high School reunion was a blast. Re connected with a friend after he moved to Texas.
Bad: Losing my dog do to cancer.(Just happened last week) One of my close friends dad passed away The online business venture didn't go as planned this year. I hope to rebound next year. Still Single Seeing a lot of fames people I grew up on passing away.
2023 I hope to get this business adventure going more. Travel a little more. While I turn 40. Plus been finically in a better place.

Terrible. A part of me wants to call it a “transitional phase”, as a euphemism. I’m appreciative for my dog. Mah shelter.

Mostly positive I guess, got a new job with some job security which has absolutely been the highlight. Will probably dictate my next 5ish years hopefully. Saw my first ever Toronto Maple Leafs game in person, that was incredible. New owners bought my local bar and have restored it to past glory, I go down for a beer pretty much every day because I love to support them. 2022 has definitely been the best year in awhile for me

After 14 months in a cast, I had my foot reconstruction surgery in August (imagine a mini Eiffel tower turned on its side and shoved in my foot to connect the middle to the rear of it again), I then had just over 4 months in a wheelchair while it all knitted together, living with my parents who I have not lived with for over 30 years as my small second-floor rental flat is not suitable for a wheelchair (neither would I be able to put support bars up in the lavvy, for example).
Last week I got the OK to have limited weight-bearing on the foot, I immediately got rid of the wheelchair (20 quid a week since August adds up) and I should be going back to my flat and decent internet Thursday or Friday this week. Also, I am looking forward to using my annual leave for something other than visits to the hospital next year.
All in all, things are looking up.

Ups and downs... Started the year off by getting COVID.
Lost my aunt to cancer. We weren't particularly close until the final year of her life where we realised that a certain family member basically made her out to be a worse person than she was. She was someone loyal to her kids and husband, even though it turned out he cheated on her several times during their near 40 years of marriage, before he shacked up with someone else and wouldn't let her proceed with divorce proceedings.
I quit a band I'd been in for the last 6 years. Things hadn't been the same since lockdown where we had lost all momentum and struggled to regain it afterwards, especially when our guitarist left the band.
The other band I'm a part of finally finished recording and released our debut EP which is out there on all the usual music streaming sites. Downloads, streams and CD sales have been surprisingly decent for a no-name band, and we've shifted a fair amount of merch too. Writing for a full length album is underway which is an awesome and exciting time for the three of us involved.
Got COVID again in the late summer, which was a bit of a bummer.
My wife has finally been cleared for a kidney transplant, which after 10 years of her having to endure dialysis, is something we've (but especially her) been waiting for for a long time.
Celebrated 18 years of marriage. Considering some people said it wouldn't last more than six months, this is a nice middle finger to those doubters.
Went to the opening night of the Garth Marenghi TerrorTome book tour and meet the author/dreamweaver/visionary/plus actor afterwards for a book signing and photo. Anyone not familiar with the TV show "Garth Marenghi's Darkplace" should check it out.
Had a nice quiet Christmas at home with my wife and kids. Quite optimistic about 2023.

It stunk, to be frank. Broke my arm, shin bone, and tore my ACL in April and it's been a shitshow ever since.
