Things were going great until October when things all went to shit.
This year gets an F- just for jerking me around.

It was a good year. I achieved my New Year's Resolution of getting a swimmers body, and at the same time found out I really love swimming. Also met some cool new people, and started playing TTRPG's on the regular, which I'd been interested in for a while, and did some improv classes on the side. I went overseas for the first time since the pandemic started which was really nice, and managed to tick some things off my travel bucketlist.

It was a very mixed bag. Good side is I got to finally see my sister and her boyfriend out in Colorado over the fall, Went to NYCC for the first time in a few years, Aunt visited from Minnesota for a week during her class reunion, Finally got my mom into WWE and we ended up going to RAW at MSG for my early birthday gift. My Grandfather from Ohio passed away from Colon Cancer in March and Grandmother is starting to show the signs of memory loss. People around me went through break ups, unemployment, etc.

Broadly speaking the start and end were tolerable, with the middle - which should be the best part - massively ruined by f***ery from people at work and in my personal life that if I'm being 100% honest, I'm still a bit angry about and feeling the effects of slightly.
I finally broke my COVID duck after over two and a half years. It got me a much needed week off work, but not in the way that I had hoped.
I started going to gigs again post-COVID, which was fun. Teenage Fanclub in a church was an experience, and so was the Flaming Lips.
I went to a test match outside of London for the first time, and Edgbaston was definitely an experience I'd like to repeat. In general though, I didn't get to go to as much cricket as I would have liked.
A lot of things haven't really changed, and this isn't a good thing. I'm not sure how much influence I have over some of them though, which sort of makes it worse. But I won't go into one on here.
Overall I give the year a D-. I'm cautiously optimistic for 2023.

I had covid, twice, and some loved ones passed away. I did go to a few shows, including Survivor Series, which was so much fun. I got together with my best friend, and we laughed a lot, because looking back on it, we have to live life. Why live in fear? I can't change the illnesses that have happened to me, so, I am trying to live again. I still wear a mask out of courtesy to others.

Well, it was decent to good in the later parts of the year when I went back to school. I wasn't doing much before and I needed a push to do more stuff, along with get more human interaction. So that was a plus. Before that, despite going to movies a lot, my routine wasn't much. So I needed to get out. Plus, I wanted to get back into my writing and photography.
I also went to a few wrestling shows, whether they were indie or WWE. I went to a WWE show back in July, which was fun.
However, I got Covid in late July. Not sure how, but I got it and spent a week isolated from people, save my parents, who also had it. I recovered after a week (maybe even sooner as I tested negative a week after the positive results).
Even worse, my grandpa passed away back in April. I found out one of my cousins has cancer, as well as another relative. There had also been some other deaths like my brother-in-law's mom, as well as my aunt's mother-in-law. I didn't really know the latter, but I felt for my uncle, who had lost his mother.
So I would say that the negatives slightly outweighed the positives. While the illness was bad, along with the deaths of my grandpa and others, I have had other years where the negatives outweighed the positives more. It could have been much worse.

Got married, changed jobs to one which pays a lot more, and went on two trips: one to Las Vegas (where we saw AEW Double or Nothing live, among other things), the other to Disney World.
I guess you can say: stuff happened in my 2022.

Honestly pretty incredible. Family is happy and healthy as ever, I did my normal thing at my stable and rewarding job, and the year closed out by getting a massive raise (I still have no idea how our union negotiated what we got) and somehow finding a girlfriend who loves wrestling, video games, and all the other stupid nerdy shit I’m into.

Good:
Quit smoking in favor of vaping and am weening myself off of that (I've had some relapses with real cigarettes but compared to my pack a day habit, I'm doing great). Got reacquainted with an old girlfriend of mine. Job has given good raises/bonuses to those of us who stayed through the pandemic. I've made more money playing poker this year than I have in any other year to date.
Bad: Aforementioned girlfriend told me to drop dead for the second time in our lives. Mom is getting older and I've had to make peace with the fact that there are certain problems she is just going to have moving forward from her brain injury last year.
