Because of the season I was reminiscing about the first Christmas with my cat, who is pushing 16 now. At the time I took her in I was still living with my father in the house I grew up in. During that first Christmas with the new kitten in the house it was common to hear my dad shooing her away from the tree. And I find myself wondering what it says about my childhood that it brought back warm, nostalgic feelings to hear my dad randomly shout “Git outta there you idiot!”

My dad was constantly saying "Dammit Daniel!" to me in anger when I was a teenager. So much so that my friends would do it too to be funny when he wasn't around.
I remember it fondly even though I thought my Dad was just too high strung at the time.

Our first family cat was on orange cat named Sandy, and he was a typical chase after anything type of kitten. Chasing after your feet in the mornings and of course as soon the Christmas tree went up, he tried climbing it and even ended up knocking it over one time. Its just always funny when you hear the sound of something falling to the ground and then you see a cat go running by as if they know they're in trouble.
