A couple of years back, Nickelodeon was working on a cartoon based on the comic strip "Phoebe And Her Unicorn", but that got scrapped, because Nickelodeon doesn't think cartoons with female protagonists can sell.  twitter.com/thecartoonnews/status/1608287653761253383 |

Yeah, it's not like one of their current highly successful shows features 10 female protagonists regularly.  Even more stupid considering how Disney has made several very good shows in the past years with female protagonists (Amphibia, The Owl House, The Ghost And Molly McGee to name a few). |

Well, that's very stupid, though at this point Nickelodeon pretty much only exists to milk every last drop out of SpongeBob and Loud House with little care for anything else so it's not really surprising.

Well, that's very stupid, though at this point Nickelodeon pretty much only exists to milk every last drop out of SpongeBob and Loud House with little care for anything else so it's not really surprising. I like the Loud House and I agree with you. Nickelodeon is making the same damn mistakes now with 2 shows instead of 1. |

I hope this is the next Adventure Time, by that I mean a show Nick passed on and found success elsewhere.
I looked up Phobe and Her Unicorn, and OMG I have read it, I got the book last year for Christmas for my niece, and I checked the book out, and I really liked it, Nickelodeon you effd up.

Guessing some Japanese studio will pick up the rights, change Phoebe's name to a japanese sounding name and make it, ultinately ending up picked up by cruncyroll for english dubbing

Nickelodeon is SO incompetent it's ridiculous.
I've heard some people suggesting that the show got scrapped because of the author's previous work, which was inappropriate, but I don't buy that. The guy who created The Loud House previously made a comic about a cat boy lusting over his mother, and the guy who created Invader Zim previously made a comic titled Johnny the Homicidal Maniac. There's no way Nickelodeon DIDN'T know about said creators' respective previous work, as I would imagine Nickelodeon does pretty thorough checks into that sort of thing before deciding whether or not to hire cartoonists.

And also like if you click on the Kids section on Paramount Plus immediately you'll have Loud House, iCarly, Victorious, and Fairly Oddparents promoted to you and all of those have a lot of associated baggage with their creators you can easily find out about with just a cursory look into them. |

I can't say I'm too surprised. This is the network that passed on Phineas and Ferb, Adventure Time, The Ghost and Molly McGee, The Proud Family, The Owl House, and Ed Edd n Eddy in favor of Pig Goat Banana Cricket, The Breadwinners, Planet Sheen, and Fanboy and Chum-Chum.
