What are some good individual performances in bad storylines? I'll start by giving some examples. Vince in the struggle for power in WWE storyline in 2011. This was a very bad period creatively for the company and this storyline was no exception. But I think Vince did great in the segment where he was fired by the board of directors. (HHH not so much when he said Pops and tried to look sad..) Eddie Guerrero in the I'm your Papi storyline with the Mysterios in 2005. The storyline had its ups and downs, but Eddie did some of his best work in it, and actually managed to get crowds against him despite having been such a beloved character and not being able to do so in his attempted heelturn two years prior.

Randy Orton in like every bad storyline that he's been apart of over the last like 15 years. Dude literally is the Pitch Perfect meme.

It didn't matter if he was murdering a dog or going into allergic fits because of a rabbit, Ray Traylor always brought it.

Been ages since I saw it, but I recall JR's promo when he introduced the fake Razor and Diesel being great stuff.

The saga of Ezekiel was shit that turned into chicken salad because of Kevin Owens.

I thought everyone did a great job during the Claire Lynch storyline. Came here to say this. Having to turn this absolute dumpster fire of a "creative idea" into something that the show was built around was what solidified Daniels as an all-time great, showed that Kaz was the type of guy who should be on every roster, and in my eyes is what genuinely put Styles over-the-top as an all-around performer in a way that TNA failed to do for the previous decade. Without AJ having to work on his mic work and presence to carry this, he wouldn't have had the confidence to leave TNA for NJPW, which then showed he could be a top guy for WWE.

Katie Vick was a little stiff, but she did a good job otherwise.

How about Randy Savage in the early part of the Flair feud with the whole Liz "Was mine before she was yours?"

Remember Naked Mideon? I do, because I remember William Regal's extreme repugnance at having to wrestle him. Even going so far as to invent a new finisher on the spot because he couldn't bring himself to use the Regal Stretch.

Without AJ having to work on his mic work and presence to carry this, he wouldn't have had the confidence to leave TNA for NJPW, which then showed he could be a top guy for WWE. I struggle to think of an irredeemably bad storyline that managed to somehow benefit the people involved anywhere near as hard as the Claire Lynch saga. AJ pushed himself on the mic to a great extent and he was able to parlay that into a career resurgence to big it got him the WWE title twice, while Kaz and Daniels managed to translate their pairing into almost a decade as a heavily decorated top tag team on the indies right on through to SCU's push in the start of AEW and their run there. The only person the story was supposed to make look good who it absolutely did not was f***ing. Dixie Carter's husband, who for some reason was involved early on and meant to look intimidating and he did not. That bit was kind of a giant joke. But like for actual wrestlers, the story somehow launched a lot of big stuff for people on the back of some pretty horrible writing and somehow nobody came out of it even a little worse for wear.

Mickie James during the psycho story. As fondly remembered as it is, mainly because she put everything she had into it, its still eye rolling cliche attitude era.

Been ages since I saw it, but I recall JR's promo when he introduced the fake Razor and Diesel being great stuff. Yeah this is accurate. The promo JR cuts here is absolutely ruthless. The one I want to add is everyone involved in the Scott Hall drunk storyline in WCW in 1998 - Hall did an amazing job of acting drunk and unprofessional (which to be fair he claims he was never legit drunk in the ring, and I don't think I have seen any wrestlers claim he ever was) - Nash throughout, showing his disappointment, his drunk fakeout and the promos - Bischoff being willing to get gimmick vomited on - Luger in the match where he tells Hall he is going to hurt someone or get fired during a lockup Honestly great work all round I will also always add to this, I know a lot of people hated Joker Sting but I think he absolutely did what he was being asked to do, regardless of whether that was what anyone asked for. And I f***ing loved it

Everyone came out of Embrace The Hate looking at least slightly worse and yet they were all hilarious and they put a ton of effort trying to get people to be compelled by it.

Some of the corny 80s/90s characters, I'm thinking Akeem, Adorable Adrian, and Repo Man.
