MJF's. It works because it's MJF, but used for someone else it would be met with complete silence. Will be interesting to see if he keeps it if he goes to WWE (with it being public domain I suppose he could), or if they'll get something else for him. I'm leaning towards the latter.

"Clavicle" for Matt Sydal is still one of the weirdest theme choices.

Dude I remember watching one of the shows live that Luke Harper and Erick Rowan had that f***ing drunk dude harmonica theme and just crying laughing wondering what the hell I'd just heard and if this was for real their theme

Zack Ryders "Oh Radio" theme never really screamed "I'm about to go Wrestling" to me.

Just as the title of the thread sounds, what wrestlers theme songs don't sound like they belong on a wrestling TV show, but elsewhere in pop culture? "The One" Billy Gunn's Theme - Despite having several failed solo pushes, one thing the company DID get right(albeit for a different reason) was his theme song when they tried to push him as a face in 2000. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad song at all, if anything, it's really awesome, however it would be more suited for a 90s TV sitcom. In fact, I'm not the only one who thinks that as someone on youtube spliced his theme song with the Full House and Step-By-Step intrs, and the two work great together. Makes you think maybe The Assman shoud've gone into acting with his very own family sitcom to boot. I don't think it's hard to picture him dressed up as your typical 90s TV dad. Yoshi Tatsu - His theme song sounds like something out of a Super Mario or any early 90s video game. Dosen't scream intimidating or threatening at all(not that his character was suppose to be, but you know what I mean).Any wrestling themes you can think of that don't belong on a wrestling show? I actually made a thread about it a few months back, but Yoshi's theme was in a Littlest Pet Shop video game lol A lot of WCW themes didn't really sound like wrestling themes, in fact, many were actually culled from other sections of the Turner library. Lex Luger and Chris Jericho, for example, had songs that were originally used for basketball highlights. I know it's in at least one Just Dance game.

I don't know if he still uses it, but Anthony Greene used to use "Heaven is a Place on Earth" by Belinda Carlisle during his "Retro AG" gimmick. It suited the gimmick oerfectly, but it's definitely a song that only fit that specific gimmick.
Similarly, "Ants Marching" by the Dave Matthews Band only worked as The Colony's theme because they were ants.

How about Skinner’s original theme or how about Henry Godwin’s original theme that he kept well into his face run?
Yeah.

I know it was probably the only Australian song mid 80s WWF creative knew, but Tie Me Kangaroo Down was never going to work as a wrestling theme regardless of how good or bad Outback Jack was.
The later revelations about Rolf Harris have not helped.

Drew McIntyre's first WWE theme was a banger. Especially before they cut the intro part of the theme from his entrance. For better or worse I don't know if it screamed, wrestling entrance theme though.

X-Factor is one of the classic examples, of course. Marina Shafir's all strings theme didn't work well - that's the sort of thing that either catches fire or dies a death, and apathy toward Shafir made it a guarantee for the latter. Bryan Danielson using "Self Esteem" by Offspring in ROH is an example, I think. Offspring's sound is generally really good for wrestling themes, but "Self Esteem" just falls really flat. I bet Danielson no longer has any type of self esteem issues now that he is regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and married a model lol

The handful of shows that Danielson came out to the 2010ish Night of Champions theme, and then a knockoff of said theme. Worked awesome as music to hype a PPV with, somehow just completely fell flat as an entrance theme. The best part is when DB addressed the theme during one of his promos. Saying something like "I came out to some generic rock theme that even I can't identify."

To me the best theme songs should lead to a crowd who's pensive & reflective who will boos when the bell rings because they'd much rather hear more songs from the theme song artist then see a wrestling match.

I wondered for years why Randy Savage came out to a song that everyone knew as the graduation song, then I found out him using Pomp & Circumstance was a tribute to Gorgeous George (the original, not the valet). Now, I get to wonder how Gorgeous George arrived at that choice.

It's a great song but took far too long to get going and was a bit understated for wrestling.

I always thought that this version of “Broken Dream” would have been a good theme for babyface Drew. youtu.be/_ly8sAWiEdk

Now, I get to wonder how Gorgeous George arrived at that choice. From a site named filmmusiccentral.com I found this: This would have been in the 1930s. I've understood that there would be a record player nearby playing the song as he strolled out. In some very special cases, his manager would hire an actual choral group to do it live.
