He was on the path. In 2007, he was hanging with the upper main eventers. If Lashley did not leave, which title or titles does he win from 2008 and on?
I can see him getting into the main event scene by 2009 firmly, but he doesn't win a World title until 2010. He would replace Swagger as the Wrestlemania 26 MITB winner. And he easily defeats Jericho to win his first world title.
There's a good feud for Lashley around this time. He probably feuds with Hardy, Umaga again, CM Punk and Morrison around this time in 2009 on Smackdown. Him and Festus can have a banger too.

Most likely both
His proving ground was that Cena match which they did really well and I thought he could won the title there. He most likely would won a MITB and won a title for sure and got a decent reign out of it

I voted world title, i wish he would have stayed as he had one of the greatest themes ever with "Hell will be calling your name". Was bummed out that he didnt return with that theme, but hey its a Jim Johnston classic

Probably would have won one or both, but ultimately, leaving ended up being good for him. He matured a lot as an act.

I probably would have got Sheamus world title push. In saying that, I think he dodged a bullet on that. Those world title reigns did not really help Sheamus get over, as he was forced to do a lot of the dumb comedy shtick Vince personally wrote for him. I really don't want to see Lashley do stand-up comedy, and it took Sheamus quite a while to get over those overly scripted pushes.
Also, TNA Lashley was amazing and still the best run of his career

While Lashley was a more than competent enough wrestler, I genuinely think his 2007 main event push was one of the dullest and most loathsome for me. I just really found the guy to be bland, and thought his promos were absolutely terrible. Had he stuck around and become a main event stay, I probably would have avoided whatever show he was on, given I didn't like what they were doing with him. That being said, there was a point when everyone was getting to hold the World Heavyweight title, so I could easily see him on Smackdown facing off against Edge and La Familia in some of the most uninteresting and lazy booking you'll ever see.
His shift in TNA really proved he was capable, and that WWE likely we're not developing his skills better. Not only did I do a 180 on the guy, I was interested in seeing if that would carry over if he ever went back to WWE. Thankfully it did, and he got a chance to be the champion that he deserved to be.
I know that the circumstances with him leaving probably makes Bobby regret that decision, but I would argue it's one of the few times where it actually helped show that WWE was doing something wrong, and for that person to go out there and proved them wrong. Yeah, WWE makes a lot of mistakes, but many times that person will go out there and not provide a better layout to what they had to offer, guys like Kennedy and Damien Sandow. Had Bobby stuck around, I'm guessing that people would have tired of him pretty quick, especially since at the time, he was rather limited in his character, and that can only take you so far. He probably would have been like a Jack Swagger, where he's given a run, and then after it bombs, he's slowly moved down the card without providing him the tools to fix the issues that kept him from getting further.
