When we going to see a Robocop v. Terminator movie?
Seems like it would be a solid way to revive interest in both franchises right about now.

I always thought the first one was just “fine.” Nothing amazing but does a great job setting up the second.
As a kid it was one of those things in media that had to exist like Street Fighter 1, but I didn’t see it until my teens.
People always joke about toys for r rated movies, but it was weird seeing stuff like T2 getting love in the magazine Disney Adventures.

Genisys is one of the worst films I’ve seen in my life. I hate it. Plus the trailer gave away the big twist of the film.
Dark Fate is enjoyable but it still isn’t great. The story is basically exactly what you would expect from a Terminator movie.

T3 was okay. There were definitely elements of a great film in there, but it got bogged down some. It was entertaining enough and I loved the ending. That was ballsy.
Salvation was really entertaining, though the ending definitely needed rewriting. Maybe have the machines lure John to their facility, not as an elaborate ruse simply to kill him but as a means to gather information up close and personal on what makes a noteworthy opposition leader in order to better counter such men in the future? Oh, and where did Moon Bloodgood disappear to? Outside of a recurring role on Burn Notice I’ve not seen her in anything else since then and that’s a shame.
The Sarah Connor Chronicle was great fun, but I wish they got at least one more season to wrap things up. It’s a shame that not only did the show not get a longer run, but I thought the entire cast was fantastic and they all should have become huge stars. Granted, Hadley, Dillahunt, and Jones have all had consistent TV roles, I’d have thought the rest would been just as consistent and noteworthy. I was especially disappointed that Green did not have a full career revival instead of mainly being known as Megan Fox’s husband.
Genysis actually came really, really close to being just as good as the first two, but somewhere they lost their way. Having John as a full antagonist instead of a more complex and nuanced character was, to me, the worst part. Killing him after he succeeded in overthrowing the machines and sending Reese back in time was fine (in fact, John being killed in that time period had already occurred in canon previously). Since he wasn’t simply a machine that took John’s form, but rather an amalgamated character, they needed to portray him differently. - First, even a brief explanation that merging Connor with a terminator helps the machines understand where they went wrong and what they could do differently to correct those mistakes is better than what we got. - Second, his amalgamated personality should have been different. The machine side seeks to bring about the machines once again, while the human side forces an alteration of the method in the hopes of preventing the genocide of his past. The heroes can find his motives to still be unacceptable and still likely to lead to genocide, leading to the same conflict while severely tempering some of the complaints people had.
I’ve not seen Dark Fate, so I’ll not opine on it.

The most interesting part about Dark Fate was what Sarah was up to. Getting coordinates texted from an anonymous person. Sending her to portals of Terminators dropping from the sky so she can kill them. I would've rather been watching that.

T3 was a shameless cash grab. It wasn't abhorrently bad but it was a massive drop in quality from the first two movies.
The Sarah Connor Chronicles was great. Do more of that.
Salvation was okay, but felt like a huge missed opportunity. It could have been an epic war movie and wound up not really being anything.
Genisys was awful. Emilia Clarke is no Linda Hamilton. Where exactly did Kyle Reese find the time and proper diet in the post-apocalypse to turn from skinny Michael Biehn to hulking Jai Courtney?
Dark Fate had some positives. Hamilton, Mackenzie Davis and Diego Luna were great, and the idea of a Terminator independently developing a conscience and learning to value humanity is an interesting one, but the whole movie undermines the story of the first two movies – great, we beat Skynet... oh what? Another AI took its place and humanity was wiped out anyway? Oops!

Hell the novels set after t2 are good. The comics from NOW and Dark Horse are good. Hmmmm, you have tempted me to track down those novels, especially since I have been buying movie novels for months now. I might have to read those comics, too. When we going to see a Robocop v. Terminator movie? Seems like it would be a solid way to revive interest in both franchises right about now. Now that is a comic book I need to read. I heard it was good, too. I enjoyed the game for the Genesis (or for any Brits here, the Mega Drive).

I'll always have a soft spot for T3, and like others have said, there's a great movie in there.
As a fun thought experiment, I've always tried to come up with a plot that revolves around the villain that comes back in time to be John Connor himself, not because he's a machine, but because he is nothing without the destiny of being a resistance hero. He is nothing and nobody, and goes crazy and so goes back in time himself to unleash Skynet.
I always felt that would make a great T3, I just never knew how to include actual Terminators.

I hated it when the last two came out. With Arnold back in action again there were other movies of his I would have preferred him making sequels too.
And sadly, anyone making more Terminators are only interested in replicating what worked before. Not expecting anything more unique like Marvel did Logan in this franchise.

Ya know, with A.I and chatgpt and the like, this could be a fun avenue to pursue a plot reboot for the whole thing.

I’ve intentionally not watched the post T2 films, as to me the first two tell the story perfectly and I don’t want to ruin it.

I really liked Genysis.
I wanted to know who sent "Pops", and why he was present in the T1 timeline.
It was all very interesting. The John Connor plot was overkill.
The one thing that struck me as odd was Arnold Schwarzenegger was no longer physically the biggest entity in a Terminator film.

I've liked everything except Dark Fate.
An even better continuation though was the trilogy of novels by SM Sterling that picks up where T2 left off and came out before T3.

The only post T2 one I saw was Rise of the Machines. It was fun enough, but it really did take a big ol crap on the whole “no fate but what we make” theme. Maybe if the next sequel had been a direct continuation of it they might’ve explored that more deeply, but we see how that’s all gone.
Seen bits and pieces of Salvation, actually do want to sit down and check out Dark Fate at some point but I’m not expecting to ever get the thrill of the original two again.

I haven't done threads like this in a while. At the turn of the year, actually on New Year's Eve, I watched the first four Terminator films. Now bear with me on this, the first two movies are classics and still hold up now. I watched the third film for the first time and I see how divisive it can be. I mean, it's not a good film, but I had fun with some of the action scenes and cheesy attempts at comedy (something about Arnold saying "Talk to the hand" made me chuckle). Then I watched Terminator Salvation and enjoyed it more than I did the last time I watched it. I liked the premise of it taking place during the "future war," so it didn't need to have the same plot of a terminator going back to the past to assassinate someone. Of course, being that it came out during the tail-end of the 2000s, there was that writers strike going on, so there were some issues with the writing of Salvation. While I didn't love the movie, I enjoyed it more than before. Then you have the two Terminator films of the 2010s, which I have heard mixed things about. Were Genisys and Dark Fate that bad? However, I have heard good things about "The Sarah Connor Chronicles." Should I watch that show? Where do you stand on the franchise after Terminator 2: Judgment Day? I know a lot of people like to pretend that the series ended at the second film. Fair enough, but regarding the third and fourth films, I am more like "I could watch them again." I felt there was a really good story that could’ve been told about the future war and how “the future is not set”, but they dropped the ball. T3 I didn’t like Nick Stahl as John Connor even though I know it was kind of last minute. T3 to me is like the Star Wars prequels in that I wasn’t much of a fan at the time, but there has been so much other rotten movies released in the franchise it’s moved up the list. The ending imo is glorious and I still will go and watch just it. Salvation was just a mess and didn’t work imo. I can’t remember anything good about it. Genysis I was intrigued by the alternate timeline of 1984, and liked that Arnie was back, but the trailer revealing a massive spoiler which took the intrigue away. Dark Fate I couldn’t get beyond the fact we are meant to forgot that Sarah Connor was said to have died post T2 yet here she is alive and well. Also, we are meant to forget that Arnie lowered himself into a molten steel in T2 and again is living in the woods ? I release I’m coming across as overly pedantic but a bit of sticking to things wouldn’t hurt.

At this point I'd rather just see a "future war" or " the new judgement day" whatever in video game form.
