Has all this amazing Bloodline work already eclipsed his own work in The Shield?
Is his legacy already shifted from The Shield to The Bloodline now?
Or will it need to take him putting over Sami to cement it for good?
Some say The Shield is something that can't be matched as it was a magical time for the 3 guys.
The Shield ran from Nov 2012 to Jun 2014 while The Bloodline has been around from Jul 2021 to current day Jan 2023.
The Shield lasted for 20 months, The Bloodline is now into it's 19th month. So the timelines are getting real close for both of his stables to compared both bodies of work.

The Shield was something that I had never seen before in WWE.
Bloodline is good and all, but we've seen numerous incarnations of these kinds of groups for years.

OMG the Bloodline's been around almost as The Shield.
f*** me...no wonder it feels like an eternity.
But yes, I think BL has surpassed TS in terms of Roman, since the BL is all about Roman. He's the center of attention. And has been handed a ridiculously long title reign with it.
Shield was supposed to propel Roman to the main event, the BL took his blah Cena-push, heel turned it, and made it easier to slot him in organically. I hate the title run, but his position as a main event draw is entirely due to the shift in character and presentation.
The Shield didn't do that for him in the end. Even though Vince tried his ass off to horribly book him until the fans just accepted it like Cena.

I think it's too early to tell. We won't know until the bloodline is done

Roman was fairly clearly the third best member of The Shield. No shame in that at all given who the other two guys in the group were mind
But the Tribal Chief is one of the best wrestling gimmicks ever. When he's pushing 70 and making nostalgic comeback appearances he'll be asking people to acknowledge him.

Loved The Shield, but I think all three guys have surpassed it with their current work.

Loved The Shield, but I think all three guys have surpassed it with their current work. I agree. It's obviously always going to be an important part of their career, but I think of it like Triple H with D-X. Their work outside of it eclipses it now for personal importance.

The Bloodline name has come a long way from the shitty ‘We Have The Shield at Home’ 2015 version.

Roman's current character is amazing. Much better than anything he did with the Shield, IMO, at least when talking about him specifically. When they look back on his career after he's retired, this is definitely the era that will define him.

It helps a lot that in the Bloodline he is the clear leader while in the Shield he was the muscle. Now he gives long impassioned promos instead of waiting until the end and saying and Believe That.

The Shield established Roman Reigns as a main eventer. The Bloodline has established Roman Reigns as one of the greatest of all-time. He found his footing in The Shield. But he found his voice in The Bloodline.

Imo, it has. This is one of the best storylines WWE has done in years. Before this, Roman was in a very tough spot because while he was WWE's top guy, his career was largely being held back thanks to Vince trying his damndest to make him the next Superman babyface. After a long decade of dealing with the same Superman booking with Cena, the fans were tired of it, and they were tired of WWE trying shove Roman down their throats the same way.
Roman needed something to get him to that next level. If history is any indicator of what can do a wrestler good when they're stuck in a situation where the fans aren't receptive of them, then perhaps a heel turn is exactly what Roman needed to get out of this mess. After all, Rock was in a similar situation himself. Fans couldn't get behind him as the blue chipper, but when they turned him heel and had him in a role that was more natural for him, it propelled his career to new heights.
The same can be said for Roman now. The role feels more natural for him as opposed to forced. His work in this storyline is by far the best in his career, and his presentation has been so much better as a result.

Loved The Shield, but I think all three guys have surpassed it with their current work. Rightfully so. Kind of weird to think they each faltered for a while. Not to an insane extent, but Seth was always missing something. Mox had his issues with the Ambrose character and Reigns rise speaks for itself. Now ya look at them? Damn.

It's kinda like asking "has Evolution eclipsed DX for Triple H?" it's both true that the Bloodline is the more important faction for his career, but it will never be the more important/iconic faction as a whole

Bloodline is Roman’s magnum opus. He is the focal point and doing some of the best story work of all time. The Shield was iconic but Roman was never the guy in it, they were presented more or less as equals and in the fans eyes he was probably third for most of the run.
I do agree that all three Shield guys didn’t hit their full potential until the Shield was 100% done and I think that Moxley leaving really helped that because otherwise Vince would have kept going back to the Shield well to ever diminishing returns.

The Shield was iconic but Roman was never the guy in it, they were presented more or less as equals and in the fans eyes he was probably third for most of the run. I don't agree with that part. From like February 2013 onwards so essentially their whole run Roman was clearly the most over guy in the group and that was the case until they split. Watch the 2014 Rumble. All 3 are in the match at the same time and Roman is by far the most popular. During the Shield/Evolution and Shield/Wyatts feuds they would always do little face offs with different combinations and like Roman/Bray and Roman/HHH always got bigger reactions than Seth or Dean with those guys. Ambrose in particular didn't get really over until after the break-up and his feud with Rollins. He spent a lot of the Shield's run having one of the worst US title reigns ever while Roman/Seth were putting on banger tag title matches.
