Because as fondly remembered as it is, it did have some doozies. For me the fact that such a long and epic story ended with a total fizzle as Shane announced he was dissolving the faction and would one day “call them together again.” Given how many of them are dead now I somehow don’t think that’s in the cards.

I don't get it. At all. It's kind of a small horse, I mean what am I missing? Am I crazy?

Damn. People who aren't long term fans just can't appreciate how dire it was with wrestler deaths back in the day.

Austin had come back from injury, but with new blood coming to the fore in his absence doubted whether he still had it in him to reach the top again (especially after Trips beat him at NWO 01. He was so desperate to regain his belt he was willing to put his issues with Vince aside. Business wise it tanked, but mise-en-scene it worked.

I'm going to go with how post-Invasion Austin, Vince, and Angle all apparently swapped places with their mirror universe counterparts for no clear reason.

I dunno about "weird" but it damn sure is the stupidest. I don't know, Austin turning heel and siding with Vince was pretty dumb. It made sense to align with McMahon to get the title.... however, the attitude Austin had means he would've stunnered him immediately after winning and not shaking his hands. Unfortunately, they (Austin, McMahon, et al) were dead set on the heel turn so that's what we got. It was fine up until the handshake.

Not a turn per se, but when Austin had McMahon arrested, Vince was in handcuffs, and surrounded by cops. Austin kicked him in the gut, and then poured beer all over his head. Even as a 12 year old, I was like "Austin should be arrrested for that".

Just following the narrative if Austin had cut Vince off right then then Rock would've beaten him for the belt the next night anyway. If Austin was so desperate and paranoid about whether he could win the belt to begin with it makes sense why he wouldn't think his problems would be instantly solved after getting it and would think ahead past that.

Even as a 12 year old, I was like "Austin should be arrrested for that". Those were the same cops who heard Vince say he assaulted Steve and didn’t do anything. Steve came out and said they should have arrested him for assault. Yeah, I know it’s wrestling. Those cops must have the mentality of Chief Wiggum.
