Forgive me if this has been done to death. So let's say hypothetically WWE wanted to do a TRUE WCW invasion and just stick with the people they acquired during the talent purchase. What would have been the way to create feuds using only talent that came over from WCW? It's not Sting vs. Undertaker or Austin vs. Goldberg, but still, who gets pushed? What are the angles?
Here's who I remember coming over. -Booker T -Buff Bagwell (let's pretend he doesn't get fired) -DDP -Kanyon -Mark Jindrak -Sean O'Haire -Lance Storm -Hugh Morrus -Mike Awesome -Kronik (let's pretend they get picked up in May instead of September) -Chavo Guerreo -Torrie Wilson -Stacy Keibler -Sean Stasiak -Chuck Palumbo
Am I forgetting anybody? How do you book those guys in the summer of 2001 with no Stone Cold or any other WWF wrestler joining WCW and with no ECW merging with WCW?

Billy Kidman too.
I always love the invasion discussion as there is so many ways to go. I keep it simple and Shane just recruits 10 WWF guys to join WCW and they stay as their own company until Wrestlemania X-8.
The people who defect to WCW are:
Test Billy Gunn The Big Show X-Pac Chris Jericho Eddie Guerrero Jerry Lynn Steve Blackman Perry Saturn Dean Malenko
10 guys who weren't doing much at the time, inject life into the new WCW programming.

DDP and Booker T needed to be at the forefront and treated as viable threats. DDP really needed to batter the undertaker in that opening fued to build him up. I think they really needed a big name to lead them. If they got Eric Bishoff in early it would really have helped. I also think they should have reached out to Vader and got him to join the WCW side. And maybe they really should have thrown a shit load more money at Flair to get him in as well. Him and Bishoff would have given WCW a credible look with Booker and DDP backing them up

I'd have had someone other than DDP do the Undertaker feud. DDP tried to make it work, but the feud would have made more sense with someone younger, and it's not like DDP was going to really get anything on 'Taker, so...
Actually kind of surprised they didn't get cute with it and give the gimmick to Shaun Stasiak.

My idea was always for WCW to get Sunday Night Heat (they didn't have a large roster so they didn't need more then an hour of TV a week). They then run the promotion completely independent of the rest of the WWF, building their own characters and angles. Occasionally they'd pick up a WWF guy who had some potential but not much going on on RAW or Smackdown (like Test) or some hot indie talent (like Rob Van Dam) or some developmental kid who was ready to move on but they couldn't find a place for him on the main roster (like Randy Orton). Mix all that together and let stew for like six months. Basically turning WCW into something similar to what NXT eventually became.
Then do the invasion.

Going with OP's rule of no defections, I think it's a REALLY tall order. You have to have DDP and Booker T spearhead the thing and pretty much all of the handful of guys would need to be booked strong in feuds up and down the card:
Booker T - Stone Cold Diamond Dallas Page - The Rock KroniK - Undertaker/Kane O'Haire/Palumbo - APA Lance Storm - Chris Jericho Mike Awesome - Kurt Angle Billy Kidman - X-Pac Kanyon - Edge Shane Helms/Chavo Guerrero - The Hardy Boyz
If they were willing to show some discipline in giving these guys some wins and focussing on some arcs for these characters instead of flip-flopping all over and just making them look like undercard wrestlers then something might have stuck. But really, it lacks the star power for what fans expected.

If they could have just got Flair (a necessary figurehead, I think), they could have shuffled their guys around in a logical fashion to build something that looked like Monday Night War-era WCW and a decent approximation of ECW, too.
WCW: Ric Flair The Giant (Big Show was doing nothing at this time, revert him to the Giant and make him a serious threat) Diamond Dallas Page Booker T Chris Jericho Chris Benoit Eddie Guerrero Perry Saturn Dean Malenko Steven Regal Lance Storm Chris Kanyon Meng Shawn Stasiak Chavo Guerrero Disco Inferno The Hurricane Billy Kidman Hugh Morrus Chuck Palumbo/Sean O'Haire
ECW: Raven Rob Van Dam Rhyno Taz Mike Awesome Tajiri Justin Credible Al Snow Jerry Lynn Stevie Richards Tommy Dreamer Spike Dudley The Dudley Boyz (Bubba & D'Von)
WWF: Stone Cold The Rock The Undertaker Kane Kurt Angle Edge Christian Test Albert Steve Blackman Billy Gunn Big Boss Man The Godfather Val Venis Hardcore Holly X-Pac K-Kwik Bull Buchanan Crash Holly Essa Rios Scotty 2 Hotty TAKA Michinoku Funaki The APA The Hardy Boyz
