The episode with WWF wrestling in That 70s Show showed it as a work right?

Triple H's appearance on The Drew Carey Show, I forget what his character's name was, but I remember someone, probably Mimi, asking him why he didn't do something to get out of a hold that'd amount to permanently maiming his opponent, with him answering that he'd get arrested. That would suggest to me it was presenting it as a shoot, but it's been too long for me to be positive.

I treat wrestling in media where any kind of "protecting the business" situation exist as showing it as a work.

Are there any examples where prom wrestling is featured, other than Aranofsky' "The Wrestler" where pro wrestling is prominently featured and shown as a work? Most examples I can think of wrestling in media shows it to be real for comedic effect. heels does, Stephen Amell's character stays kayfabe but they do show how it's scripted

The original Charmed had a wrestling match that was real, but they were demons, even if played by Booker T and Scott Steiner, I think it was. Or was one of them Buff Bagwell? It's been a while. The third guy was the stuff all right.

I recall an episode of a show with Kevin Nash as a wrestler with a lady's man gimmick. Although I think that was kayfabe and he was actually gay. I can't quite remember.

Most examples I can think of wrestling in media shows it to be real for comedic effect. Believe it or not, the 'old school' era of pro wrestling was shown as a work in old movies and tv shows like The Munsters (kind of) and The Beverly Hillbillies.

The Garfield and Friends animated series portrayed wrestling as both a work and a shoot.
In one episode Binky The Clown took up a gig as a ring announcer (after his show was cancelled) and was so loud that the wrestlers couldn't concentrate on reading their scripts.
But in another episode Jon Arbuckle is challenged to a shoot match after getting into an altercation with a masked heel wrestler at a restaurant, and Jon only ended up winning the match when Garfield stuffed the heel's mask with cat hair as he was allergic to cats.

One of the Mathnet story arcs on Square One TV had a pro wrestler named The Masked Avenger being pressured by the mob into taking a dive in his championship match so they can win a huge sum of money off of betting on the contest.
They even did the old switcharoo trope with series protagonist George Frankly being forced to don the mask and temporally take the Avenger's place when the mob kidnapped Avenger as a last ditch effort to keep him from wrestling.
(Fun Fact: The heel wrestler the mob was backing was played by a good "friend" of the Wrestlecrap website: Damien Demento)

There was that "Night Court" episode that had Bull get the opportunity to wrestle. There was a part when Harry mentions a script.

Family Matters' wrestling episode sort of does. I know the Bushwhackers were originally going to go easy on Steve and Carl, but I do not know if that was a general "work" thing, or because they specifically knew Carl and Steve were not the "Psycho Twins" they were supposed to wrestle and inexperienced nobodies. It's been too long since I saw it last. The episode is on HBO Max. I could go back and see it, but from what I remember, Carl was told that the people in the back knew that they weren't wrestlers. So the Bushwhackers were told to go easy, but then they started shooting on Carl and Steve when they find out Carl was a cop. Yeah, and they even played the serious music while it happened.

I just had to delete a post from this thread for political reasons. Don’t do this kind of stuff again. I’m serious. I’m sick of it.
