And I demand he make use of the Honk-A-Meter immediately!
We're all getting very old.

Related, he actually has the longest reign as IC Champion of the entire 2000s now. Should he still be champion going into WrestleMania, it will actually be the longest IC title reign since the record-holding Honky Tonk Man reign.

Looking at Wikipedia's list of reigns, currently only 7 have been longer, and of those, he's probably got a good shot at outlasting some of those, even if he's probably not beating Honky Tonk Man or Pedro Morales' second reign. The Rock and Mr. Perfect, though, are doable.

What would beating Valentine's take him to?

What would beating Valentine's take him to? Valentine's is 285, so if makes it to 'Mania, he'll be just short of 300, so he'd handily beat him. I think Savage, Pedro, Honky Tonk Man, and Muraco are still going to beat him, not in that order obviously, but he should be 5th place by then.

What would beating Valentine's take him to? As it stands, here's where things are: 1. Honky Tonk Man - 454 2. Pedro Morales (2) - 424 3. Randy Savage - 414 4. Don Muraco (2) - 384 5. Greg Valentine - 285 6. Mr. Perfect (2) - 280 7. The Rock (2) - 264 8. Gunther - 245+WrestleMania would get him to either 295 days or 296 days, depending on what day his match would be, so he'd be Top 5 by at least a week.

Oh wow. Chris Jericho's got the most combined reigns at 9. Impressive!
That combined reign is enough to get him to 17th place for combined days. Miz is at 2nd with one less reign, only needing less than a month if he won it again to beat Pedro Morales.

Honestly, I wouldn't be that Upset if Gunther ended up beating HTM's record.
That said I do still want to see a sheamus IC title run at somepoint.
Just dones some quick math and to my calculations Gunther would break HTM's recorded on the 8th of September this year.

It's kind of funny that WWE has been notable for having multiple long reigns of just about every title in existence, but the IC title is the one that gets tossed around the most.
I'm not opposed to anyone breaking HTM's record, but I'd be more impressed if someone broke Morales' record with a couple reigns. If Gunther lost the IC title at Mania, then proceeds to win it back at MITB or something, and then hold onto it until 2024, that would be what I'd favor.

Look, I like Gunther, I'm glad he's being used well, but I am so sick of these super long title reigns.

And I demand he make use of the Honk-A-Meter immediately! We're all getting very old. There's a thread tracking the IC title. officialfan.proboards.com/thread/619226/championship-title-defence-tracking-threadCan confirm that Gunther's entire reign has been, as the kids say, f***ING AMAZING. Won it Ricochet in a decent match, they had a far better match for the belt in November. Beat Braun Strowman clean in one of Braun's best matches ever. Had an absolute war with Sheamus at Clash at the Castle which pretty much saved that PPV. He also had a really good title match with Nakamura last August which is sort of forgotten because of all the other big Gunther matches of late. Man has been on fire, and he's made the title look super important. Turns out, you can do that. WWE was just f***ing lazy for years.

The only reason I’m against Gunther breaking Honky Tonk Man’s record is that I think he should be in the main event picture ASAP. Dude is incredible

I'm shocked Warrior's runs aren't in the Top 8, he seemed to hold the belt forever, outside of Rude's run.

Throw a phantom 10 days onto Valentine's reign and do Gunther vs. 71 years old but just getting warmed up Greg "The Hammer" Valentine for Wrestlemania. Who says no besides fans, medical advisors, and Gunther?

The reign doesn't feel like it has been long which has separated it from other people
This is def a throwback title reign and most likely when he does lose the IC title, he will just be waiting his time for the WWE championship.
It helps he has a lot of opponents and all his matches have been physical and dominant but yet he has shown vulnerability.

Warrior’s 2 reigns were nearly identical in length, 216 and 218 days (makes sense since they both ran from Summerslam to Wrestlemania). He’s 7th on the combined time list.

On one hand I want Gunther to beat the longest reign, on the other hand I’m ready for a Sheamus reign.
