Obviously barring some exceptional Contract Crime or other chicanery, Jon Moxley will not be back in WWE anytime soon (or ever). But it honestly feels like he and Reigns were destined to feud with their current gimmicks/presentations - that seems like the biggest storyline you could book using the full time rosters of both American majors. Definitely gonna be something people will look back on in the years to come and fantasize about like Sting vs Undertaker or Austin vs the (prime) NWO

It would have been huge yeah. Mox might have been the perfect guy to dethrone Roman honestly.
Mox needed to go though. He was floundering after the heel turn which was a disaster (thanks to Vince).
Also considering how WWE botched Seth v Roman where Seth actually beat him (by DQ) and never got a rematch I’m not sure the Vince regime would have booked it well. The HHH regime sure.

Yeah. Probably best for the industry, I guess.
I’ve gotten the feeling for a while that the next time we see a Shield reunion, they’ll probably all be old dudes.

Roman would have gone over Mox long ago.

In fairness if it was booked under Vince it wouldn't be "Mox" it would be scrappy midcard whackjob Dean Ambrose. The ideal time probably would have been Moxley returning to WWE instead of re-upping with AEW last year

I don’t mean to derail the thread too much, and it ultimately never would’ve came to be for the exact same reasons his AEW run fell apart, but to me the biggest what-if of the modern era is if Punk came back to WWE in 2021 instead. We missed out on some awesome potential feuds with Roman, Seth, KO, AJ, Edge, Miz, Lashley, etc.
Of course half of those probably would’ve required Punk to stop Punk from being a petty asshole for five minutes, and as we all know, that’s not his strong suit. At least we have TEW.
More on topic, another Shield triple threat — this time with all three guys having evolved into their final form — would’ve been an all time classic. Hopefully at an actual major PPV too

I think it depends if they have him be Jon Moxley or Dean Ambrose. I just thi... and Mox just bladed all over my coffee table.

I forget that Ambrose was even WWE champion...Although it felt like he was the defacto leader when the Shield first started he quickly became the #3 guy perceptually to me

I don’t know if it counts as “this” generation but not doing Taker vs Cena while The Streak was still intact was a pretty big missed shot.

A betting company was taking odds for a Shield triple-threat title match from the day after 'Mania 31. It seemed a very likely plan at one time, before they cooled off Ambrose after HIAC.
