Thanks to this thread I looked up Dave Sim and learned he was a piece of shit. F*** that guy. Sucks that the "silly story gets more epic and dramatic" trope has to be called "Cerebus Syndrome". It should be called Gravity Fallsitis.

Thanks to this thread I looked up Dave Sim and learned he was a piece of shit. F*** that guy. I only learned about Dave because of his newest comic I remembered Dave's name from when I was a kid collecting comics. But I thought for a second y'all were talking about the guy that made Bone, which I liked a lot back then. That was Jeff Smith. So far nothing's bad come out about him.

Not gonna blanket blame black people by any means, but it was an odd decision airing f***ing Dilbert of all shows on a network geared towards black people. Dilbert, starring Daniel Stern, it’s hard to get much whiter then that UPNs flagship show was Star Trek Voyager. They fell into being a “black” station as almost all of their early dramas and comedies failed, except for the black ones. I always forget that Voyager was actually a UPN show, I live in Canada so it was syndicated here like TNG and DS9 from what I remember.

Thanks to this thread I looked up Dave Sim and learned he was a piece of shit. F*** that guy. I only learned about Dave because of his newest comic I always assumed most comic fans knew about Sim. And still shocked more don't know about Barry Blair.

Honestly I thought the cartoon was decent from what I've seen of it.
Also I think our misplaced airing for it was that it was put alongside some cartoon about a British dentist moving to Canada

I'd read the replies on this but I'm pretty sure my head would explode. So...let's say he's right and the media defines that view. They're not editing what he says in tweets. What he puts out, they put out in return because, like...that's how reporting about tweets and social media works. If the context is there, what other context is needed? If you constantly say stupid shit and it's not like an interview where you need to find the context to understand it or if you have a Twitter gimmick or something...what other context is needed? They're your own words. If people hate you, they hate you for you, man. It's not hard to get.

Last I checked the media didn’t assign me an email or call me with what ever view I was supposed to have of Scott Adams today. I just woke up, saw his Twitter fingers got itchy and decided…”dude what an asshat”.

They're your own words. If people hate you, they hate you for you, man. It's not hard to get. Scott's been this f***ing petty for ages. If you ever read his third book, "The Joy of Work", he literally did an entire chapter whining about Norman Solomon and made the guy out to be an absolute nutcase. Who's Norman, you ask? Well, Norman wrote a book called "The Trouble with Dilbert" where he argued that while the comic itself could have merit due to its reach in the current pop culture landscape, it instead routinely insists for a sense of corporate malaise; that everything sucks, so just accept it, dummy. The Pointy-Haired Boss is as high as we ever see for management, but he is technically middle management; the in-between for employees and executives, and while he's presented as both evil and stupid, we never see anything that highlights real problems with a company from an upper management role (the cartoon even lampshaded this where PHB acknowledges the guys above him that we will never see). And because Scott Adams actually had endorsements and sponsorship deals with major companies back in the day, he's not going to bite the hand that feeds him (as opposed to now where he went full cuckoo), and even supported corporate actions like downsizing in his books and interviews. It was like a YouTube essay in book form. He also did a week-long strip yelling at Zippy the Pinhead.

Times like this make me laugh at the hypocrisy of the “famous people aren’t allowed to have opinions” crowd. They’re totally allowed to have opinions when they agree 100% with them. They’re never going to tell him to “shut up and write comics”. He’s just another cog in a mass conspiracy against them man.

I like how his response to being asked to consider if he's unlikeable is 'You're stupid and have no opinions of your own.' This is why smart celebrities have publicists handle their social media.
