I love Kurt Cobain and Nirvana's music so I wanted to start a topic about them. Feel free to talk about anything and everything about them here (within Forum Rules, obviously).
I love early (pre-"Bleach") Nirvana. "Bleach" is such a great album.
Kurt and Nirvana have a treasure trove of live performances, unreleased songs, demos, and B-Sides. One of my favorite Nirvana rarities is "Old Age" which is an outtake from the Nevermind sessions.
We've gotten a ton of Kurt and Nirvana rarities officially released over the last 20 years and I"m really grateful. I hope there's more to come.

Kurt's a cultural icon, but as a musical talent, Dave Grohl is superior.

Kurt's a cultural icon, but as a musical talent, Dave Grohl is superior. It’s all subjective really though. I greatly prefer Nirvana to most anything that Grohl has done. Grohl is more technically proficient but I like the simplicity of Kurt/Nirvana. 🤷🏻♂️ As for the topic of Nirvana I go through periods where I just don’t feel like listening to them and then I’ll go back and listen to some songs and discover something that I didn’t notice or at least appreciate more. Also: Krist’s bass playing was very integral to the Nirvana sounds and no one ever really talks about him, but dude could groove.

I will say as a huge music nerd, I much much prefer the 2013 Albini mix from the In Utero 20th anniversary edition. Just a much better album all around with this mix. Kurts vocals are dry and up front, and the harmony vocals are brought forward too. Its a fantastic mix!
