Toni Storm had an amazing reign that elevated the title and now she's Saraya's lackey. She's top of my list for sure. She could have been the cornerstone of the division.
And also Shida. Always.

Jade. If booked correctly, she could be one of the biggest stars the company has. She's on her way there. But the key is specifically how they book her after that first loss. If done right, they can make someone a star in ending the undefeated streak and winning the TBS championship, and Jade can be easily built back up. It’d probably mean much more if Jade was around regularly defending her title.

Really hard to pick one. Emi, Deeb, Shida, Riho, Nyla all deserve to be in a title picture. Willow is a break out star that has been really connecting with crowds. Abadon has the look that should be terrifying babyfaces. I'd also love to see more of AQA on television.
With a roster this talented, it really is hard to argue not giving the women more TV time.

Voted for Athena...I have been a fan since I first saw her finish on NXT.

Voted for Athena...I have been a fan since I first saw her finish on NXT. A few months ago I would have agreed, but I do like her current character and her as ROH women's champ. I know it's a demotion of sorts in some people's eyes but I think it's a great way to showcase her right now. And definitely voted Ruby. Hell, going back I thought she should have been the first TBS champ over Jade. I know the network loves Jade and whatnot, but Ruby was hot then and her defending that title could have been good for her and the title in the long term.

All of them. This division is crap. That's way too harsh a statement imo, the division has a ton of great talent who get a lot of chances to shine, and have even been main eventing much more frequently Even if you aren't feeling the storyline the triple threat at Revolution was a quality match too, most of the matches week to week have been very well executed in ring.

Here's some thoughts that I haven't found a good place for, and I think this thread is actually pretty appropriate.
While "who deserves better" is a reasonable question to ask, I feel like it's a common talking point that doesn't address the real problems, which are more holistic.
Yeah, I could pick someone from that list and say they need to be pushed more, but in order to get pushed more, there needs to be more focus on her potential opponents. I don't want my favorite to beat everyone, I want a thriving little wrestling ecosystem with a variety of good wrestlers with fleshed-out characters and deals so that my favorite has room to do something actually interesting.
And...well, the discussion around the division just broke me at one point because it felt like every single woman on the roster has a hatedom that will be very loudly heard every time she gets screentime instead of someone else, when the enemy of the someone else's screentime is never the woman on TV, it's the least important men's angle that is prioritized over a second women's timeslot.
So my answer is, it's not about any woman needing better so much as the whole women's division needing a clear plan that gives everyone a meaningful role.
Yeah, it's a cop-out answer, but I also believe in it pretty strongly.

I mean you said the division was shit, I thought you were saying the entire thing sucked, which I just didn't agree with, so my bad I think there are a lot of girls who are being used, and being used well, the main storyline just needs ore structure, and Ruby brought it this week, I hope they continue that

Unless Abadon has been injured all this time, or she was caught running illegal dog fights in the locker room, there is NO reason for her not to be used more on TV I know TK doesn't like supernatural gimmicks, but she has a marketable look/gimmick that I could see weird little girls (and kids in general) latching onto I turned 30-something today, if my boyfriend can binge "The Walking Dead" for the first time, why can't I have a zombie/cannibal in my wrestling?

Every one of them. My main issue with AEW as a whole is the booking of the entire woman’s division, they have an incredible roster of woman’s wrestlers and they’re only reduced to one match per show, and a 10 sec Jade Cargill or Brit Baker backstage promo. My god the only Woman’s match tonight was a Ruby/Sky Blue squash match! Not exactly must see TV. It’s just frustrating because the talents are there but they need to be showcased A HELL of a lot more then they are. was the Woman’s Champion even on the show tonight? Lord!. Say what you want about WWE’s Women’s divisions, but shit, at least they get tons of TV time and are featured prominently. Pretty sure a recent SmackDown had THREE woman’s matches on the card. Come the f*** on TK! show the woman talent some love

I want to see Riho and Hikaru Shida be main players again in the women's division, because I like them.

I feel like we've had some permutation of this thread like 400 times. The Saraya and Toni thread is basically just another one of those.
To answer the question, I think she's been used fine, but Emi Sakura really ought to win a title, either of them, at least once.

Went with Emi. It's a damn shame she's relegated to the Youtube shows as much as she is. Really hard to pick one. Emi, Deeb, Shida, Riho, Nyla all deserve to be in a title picture. That was the best segment this storylines offered since it started, and that was large in part to how well Ruby did with it all. I'm not saying either division is better than the other but both have good and bad points about them, and again, I do agree they should be showcased more, they've earned it. Them getting more main events has been a great start. Honestly both WWE and AEW should take a note or two on how NXT showcases their women's roster depth on their shows. They do a very good job at it any time I've watched them.

Agreed that NXT has the best booking of any Woman’s roster in any brand or promotion, and yes, no promotion has the best or better woman’s roster than the other, that’s just an insulting take to have to every woman’s talent who steps into the ring to think that. I just want AEW to do better booking wise with their woman talent, more main events, at least 2/3 matches per show, more in-ring promos with a variety of talent, have the Woman’s Title match main event a PPV sometimes, pretty much, give them the same amount of attention as the men’s roster. It CAN be done

It CAN be done It's getting there, and this storyline they're doing is an attempt to involve a ton of different women at once, and I do commend that because they do have a budding roster of women's talent I do agree that even on a Rampage two women's matches would be fine. Like the show consistently stays within the same ratings pool every Friday, I don't think two women's matches would do much of anything to attempt like every other week, and then you could gradually do it to Dynamite too They definitely care about their women's roster and want to showcase it, I don't know if it's a thing where Khan just loves his show patterns too much, it can't be a fear of ratings because the AEW ratings never really crater, but we've gotten the women main eventing more Dynamites and Rampages to good results, hopefully in 2023 is when we start seeing more women's matches, it'd only be good for the guys too for certain feuds or matches to get a break sometimes too. There are a lot of fresh women's matchups they could do that I think at this point people would care about, including multi women matches, as women's trios and tags can be a ton of fun and have proven so.

Of the active women I think Ruby and Emi deserve more love. I know Ruby is in a 'major' program so she's getting TV time, but her and Hayter going at it in the PPV 3-way was just so, so solid. She could easily be one of the top faces for AEW.
Emi, as others have stated, is the perfect 'gatekeeper'. She's damn good in the ring, and can be guaranteed to give you a quality match. Someone like that should be showcased more.
Third on the list would be Shida. I think she's been done a bit dirty with how she carried the division through the pandemic, compared to how she's been used since, but that's a whole different pile of rant when it comes to TK and the women's division.
