So this is a spin off from a post on the AEW board.
I think we're all aware of just how horrible things went after the end of All Out Last year, I don't need to recap Punk's antics.
There's been champions with short, uneventful reigns,
There's been champions who ended up hurting the business either financially or killing back stage moral,
There's been Champions who have brought bad publicity to the company,
but I don't think anyone has ever done ALL of those things at once in such a short period of time.
I don't even know what somebody would have to do to top(/bottom?) this sad legacy.

I feel like the only way I can drum up a more catastrophic one is if Benoit waited a couple of days.

I feel like the only way I can drum up a more catastrophic one is if Benoit waited a couple of days. Funnily enough Benoit had another title reign that could be in the discussion as nearly this bad WCW was so desperate to not lose him to the WWF in 2000 that he beat Sid for their world title semi-clean (Sid tapped with a foot under the rope out of view of the ref) on his last night in the company and was stripped of it the next night once he had gone, burying Sid, the title and the company all at once without even breaking kayfabe

I feel like mentioning Tessa Blanchard's Impact World Title reign for how chaotic and drama-filled it was. Granted, a lot of that was beyond Impact's control or even Tessa's control (it did take place during the COVID pandemic, after all) but damn, it shoulda coulda been a historic reign memorable for all the right reasons, much like Chyna being WWF Intercontinental Champion was.

Depends how you frame it. It's the worse in the sense it was quick with no redeeming qualities other than memes.
Conversely you could argue the fact it was so short means there was little damage long term. There's certainly an argument that HHH or Jeff Jarrett style reigns of Terror were worse. Or Jinder or Arquette devaluing their titles in different ways.
Personally Brock's largely AWOL reigns have done more to damage how I see a company than anything else but obviously if I'm being more objective they don't come close (if nothing else at least he's credible).

I’d argue Harvey Whippleman as women’s champion

Jeff Hardy in TNA. The "Anti-Christ of Wrestling" was such a good gimmick but because they built the entire promotion around it, they put Hardy in a position where his addiction went unchecked and he was an absolute visible mess for weeks. His matches were sloppy (he damn near killed Ken Anderson with a chair shot), his promos were what we joke Bray Wyatt's are at their worst, and the booking was trash because they had to bail from what was a long-term plan to get a few guys over
