According to various reports from PW Insider, Meltzer, and Fightful, Drew has less than a year left on his contract and the sides aren't close to a new deal money wise. They still have plenty of time to work on a new deal though so it's not as if he will be a free agent but there's always a reason it's coming out. Fightful also noted that Drew isn't the only deal coming up as a lot of people had deals made in 2019 in light of AEW starting and got a ton of money as a result that will now be up in 2024.

With how much of late Drew's been putting in work despite seemingly constantly being sick or injured, I can see why there'd be some trepidation with him but I've also got to think you should just give the dude whatever he wants.

Gulak deserves a raise. Give it to him.

I swear there was a thread here a year or two ago about the possibility of Drew leaving..Anyway: Good. Same thing when the roles are reversed, he’s going to get paid and get the best deal he wants, regardless of promotion. What do I think happens..? Who knows what he prioritizes (money, role, etc..) think there’s a likely shot he leaves.

The existence of two monied promotions, however vast the differential, is about to bear fruit in the next year or so. I dare say the women and men in both companies are going to be getting paid better than they ever have.

Drew has been a workhorse for a long time. He’s earned the best deal he can get.

My view - give him the bank.
With AEW/WWE almost certainly going to both be interested in someone like him, I suspect he will get the bank.
Still pissed off by Clash at the Castle.

I think his next contract would put him into WWE legend status and he has another main event run in him so hopefully he re-signs.
He could be a great addition for AEW too if they use him in the main event scene.

He’s 37 so I’d imagine he’s at least thought about when he’s going to start winding down and that probably means he’s looking for a good deal of money with this contract.
And again, think what you will of these wrestling wars and the endless arguments they cause, but this is why there needs to be at least 2 big shows around. The workers can move around and get what they’re worth.

I might be the only person who feels this way, but Drew McIntyre is the among the most meh people in wrestling right now.
Like, his size is good and all, but beyond that, he's just...there. I've never seen him have a great match, or cut a great promo, or just generally be anything more than exceptionally average at anything related to pro wrestling.
I'd let him go and see if he can find a personality. They did it once already, but it didn't take.

Drew Carey earned that Hall of Fame spot, underpaying him now would be insulting.

I will say that trying to negotiate a massive contract in the midst of a sale is probably going to be difficult. WWE is rich but they aren't just going to spend an infinite amount of money to sign everyone in the world.

Drew McIntyre from an on-screen standpoint might have taken a step back since his loss at Clash at the Castle, but he hasn’t lost a step in the ring. He’s still a tremendously reliable hand capable of working well with any opponent, and he still deserves a ton of credit for the way he helped carry WWE during the pandemic.

When I saw the title of this thread I got scared that Drew had cancer and has only a year to live. Then I saw the Not Close on Money part.

Like, I get why they’d want to keep him but dudes been a big bowl of nothing for awhile now. Going from either bland to actively annoying.
Maybe a change of scenery is what he needs

I don’t think he’s going anywhere but I could be wrong. He’s not my favourite guy but he’s talented & the crowd likes him.

Through no fault of his own, I totally lost all interest in him after Clash. Would still be a pretty big loss though

I’m not a huge fan of the dude, but I do think that he’s a solid piece of stability for the uppercard/main event scene.
I figure that he’ll get a good deal either in WWE or AEW though so he’s sitting pretty either way.

Drew McIntyre is a guy who, on paper, has everything, when he's in the actual 3D world, he's just flat. I don't understand the infatuation with the guy.
