Drew already proved he could leave WWE and go get himself over and raise his stock. And there was no AEW level place for him to go to…and he won’t be coming off a role as a jobber this time.
I feel like they’ll cave before he will.

I think he could do very well there. He'd be a great big hoss for them who could work in AEW and internationally in places like New Japan. Drew vs. Brody King would be awesome. I really want Galloway v Tanahashi I realize its not anywhere near to being the number one match you'd book Tanahashi in if you have him available to you, but still.

I don't think WWE will make the error of letting him go a second time. He's someone who went out on his own after being meh during his first run with the 'E, and built himself up into star material. If he walks away now, WWE'll have given Tony Khan a license to print money.
There are other on the roster that are getting paid to stay, knowing that jumping ship might well mean a ratings shift.

They'd be mad to let him go because he'd likely become an ace in AEW almost immediately, or anywhere else... but I'm thinking they get the deal done eventually
I wouldn't piss him off though by dragging it out

This feels like Drew’s camp leaked it to force WWE’s hand. I doubt he’s going anywhere. He strikes me as a lifer now.

He was my favorite during the pandemic. I still like him but he hasn’t had much to work with. I’m hoping after Mania him and Sheamus become a full time tag team. I’d love for them to be the ones to beat KO and Zayn say around Summerslam.

I generally think people overestimate who would never leave on both sides. There are certain folks who will likely never leave where they are but most folks would consider it and both sides have a ton of money to spend. If Bryan left, I don't see why Drew wouldn't if everything came together.

On one hand, the dude has struggled massively to get over as a heel. On the other, after choking so many times on PPV in the last two years including bottling it in Cardiff, something needs to change for Drew and a heel turn might be that something.

Yeah, if he goes heel I don't think it needs to be for that long. We've seen heel Sheamus vs. Drew, I think reversing the roles would freshen it up.

Count me in as another one bitter about Clash.
I admit I've not paid a great deal of attention to the product in recent years, but what I have seen of Drew is so much more than he was in his "chosen one" original run, I was glad they hired him back after he did his growing up and gaining experience. I think he's got a lot to offer. He's fun, he's got the look, he's good at what he does. But, WWE being WWE, they never seem to pull the trigger when they need to and they're not always "on" with the writing. I think he's probably suffering from that.
He's still got a lot of potential. It would be a shame to waste that. They let him go once, which was maybe for the best at the time, but it'd be a mistake to lose him now that he's gained so much since. He's just so... likeable, somehow, far more than some other upper-mid-carders.

With how much of late Drew's been putting in work despite seemingly constantly being sick or injured, I can see why there'd be some trepidation with him but I've also got to think you should just give the dude whatever he wants. Dude carried the company on his back during the pandemic and the company seemingly punished him for it as soon as they were out of it... with a bunch of nothing feuds and it wasn't until this team/feud with Sheamus that it's actually felt like they cared about him at all.

For what he did during the pandemic alone, he deserves whatever he can get for himself. Even if he's not always at the top of the card, he's a really important foundation for the company. I'd just pay him what he wants. He could easily have another title reign and will be around to start putting some younger guys over, too.

Like, I get why they’d want to keep him but dudes been a big bowl of nothing for awhile now. Going from either bland to actively annoying. Maybe a change of scenery is what he needs He was on a hot streak for a bit, but the key word is definitely "was". He and Sheamus had some fun together, too, but like, it'd be difficult NOT to have good stuff with Sheamus right now, he's been on a roll. Even before Clash at the Castle, I feel like some of the bloom was off of him from the "carrying the show during the lockdown" days. Maybe they can reignite him, but it might make sense to let him walk.

I mean, you can never say it wouldn’t have a big effect because who knows but I wouldn’t be too scared about letting him walk to go to AEW. They got Punk and Danielson in the same month and only marginally bumped up in popularity. If he’s asking for A LOT, I can see the company being like, alright then dude. See you later.

Yeah, I think Drew is popular, obviously, and AEW does want to make a splash in the UK, but I don't think it'd be a game changer. If WWE keeps him, they should probably only do it if they can come up with stuff to make him worth the price, since otherwise, he's probably got at least 5 more years left in him, perhaps more, and he shouldn't be spending it having nothing midcard matches that any number of guys making less money than him could be having.

If Drew could get his body right again or at least heal up he could have a really good run in AEW or New Japan. That's a big IF though, much like Sheamus he's pretty beaten up.
