I will be stunned if that live backlash goes away even a smidge. Best case scenario for most everyone here it seems is that we get another 'fan revolt' ala the "Yes Movement". If Dwayne is in the ring cutting the promo and loud, thunderous, "we want Cody!" chants ring through the arena...well that's the best way to get them to change their minds I would think. Make it happen fam. Honestly this all seems manufactured to be a Daniel Bryan moment. Philly literally has a history of Booing Roman and Rock out of the building in the ring together.

People also have forgotten the Rock is not the same guy he use to be.

It is kind of convenient that we’re 10 years on from the Bryan stuff.

Yeah but unless they make it a triple threat (which they shouldn’t) what would be the point? I guess Cody winning the triple threat would be better than just straight up Roman vs Rock, but it really should be Cody vs Roman one on one. If Rock wants to be at mania so bad, go for Seth’s title beat him and elevate that title instead

Gotta give WWE credit for turning Cody Rhodes into a pariah. People are gonna be singing the lyrics to Kingdom next time Rock tries to speak. And if that happens, it has to lead to super heel and paranoid Hollywood Rock taking on the entire WWE Universe.

Then he unifies the belts.

It’s weird to think that if Black Adam had been a hit, Cody would still be primed to win the WWE Title.

When you think about it, Rock doing this isn't even the worst part of all this. TKO played their hand and showed how happy they are to f*** over the product and any existing storylines purely to save face or squeeze a dollar or two more out of the shows. As if Wrestle Mania wouldn't and hasn't made bank already.
So in the end, it still doesn't matter who gets hot or what manages to catch on; we're once again at the mercy of people who don't give a shit what fans want and are booking for themselves.

The press conference is open to the public, and if The Rock is getting booed and pro-Cody chants, the WWE and TKO won’t be able to bury their heads in the sand and avoid it.

My guess is they're going to hastily make Cody / Seth official on Raw and just hope desperately that people get it out of their system once they no longer have any recourse.

But The Rock will be at the press conference, and if his presence alone draws the ire of the crowd in attendance, that might be reason alone for WWE/TKO to rethink this ghastly idea.

Well, in case you doubted the possibility that The Rock himself might get a negative reaction...
