Hollywood Rock was basically the only time I've ever enjoyed watching him. Even as a kid I hated Rock.

After thinking about this for a day, I see one option it can go but it depends on the backlash. If Rock/TKO/WWE sees the backlash is wild enough that there's a fan revolt then he The Rock, as the so-called "People's Champion", can just say he wants to face Roman but feel the people need a new "People's Champion" and it's Cody. He then calls Cody out and says it's his time. Rock then says he'll be the enforcer so Solo and Jimmy don't interfere in the match. They have the WM match, Rock takes out Jimmy and Solo, Cody wins and has a huge celebration and then at the end of it Rock endorses Cody. No it doesn't take away Rock bowing out Friday, no it doesn't take away from Roman shitting on Cody, Seth and Seth's belt but it at least keeps Rock in the mix. Afterwards they can setup a Rock/Roman Summerslam match. Again, that's only if the backlash is enough that Rock sees it and he does what's right rather. If not then he and Roman are getting booed until WM to where those boos will be embedded with "We Want Cody" chants. Now, what I expect to happen is for everyone to be so tone deaf and for everyone to do their best to try to build this Roman/Rock match up down to even using Cody as a sacrifice to try to build their match up like they used Bryan, Seth, Ambrose and everyone else the people loved years ago. That's just what happens. It ain't gonna turn out good but hey, it's been some years before we've had a major "fan revolt" for a world champion. Last time it happened was Kofi so that's like what, 5 years ago. It's about time for it to happen again. [/b] i hear that

Well… what now?
Do we watch mania and see if things turn out well somehow? That the other matches are at least decent and some good stories are told? Continue to hope that things have turned a corner when most of the time it feels like the other shoe is a lace length away from the floor?
Cody is even more over but as a viewer was any of the last year worth the wait and sees that were screamed last time? Do any of y’all even remember when there wasn’t a need for wait and see to be parroted? I feel dumb as hell for getting invested, ngl. I feel dumb for liking this shit.

My hope is that the Rock has no plans on wrestling, and that this is setting up an injury angle that leaves Roman as even more of a villain and Cody with something to avenge.

At least for me I'm putting WWE in a place where I'm not watching it until the WWE title is on a full-timer again, even if that isn't until next year's Mania. Tired of this horseshit.

Rock shows up on RAW and says, "My b, let's just forget all that for like a year."
Everyone forgets it happened and we never mention it again.
Deal?

#WeWantCody is still the #1 trend on Twitter for what it's worth.

I know this is bad, but The Rock's biggest crime is making us think this was good CGI

Also, I don't think "Give Cody something to avenge" / "Rock steps aside to choose Cody" / "Rock gets injured and taken out" will work based on Friday.
I say that because Cody's story is about Cody be the protagonist - CODY makes the choices, CODY takes initiative, CODY leads.
Cody stepping aside or being a second choice is NOT the story. It betrays the entire build.
CODY needs to be the one to say "No, I'm wrestling Roman at Wrestlemania" and fight for it. However they do it, that HAS to be at the core if they want to continue the story. It's otherwise a complete betrayal of the narrative and character.

And because he absolutely needs to be dunked on yet again, here's everyone's favorite bootlicker Raj Giri.

I think you could make it work if you had him come to that decision due to Rock being taken out or something, like realizing, "No. This has to stop NOW and I have to be the one to stop it." But stuff like Rock willingly stepping aside for it or the idea I've seen of Punk convincing him not to let Rock hijack him or whatever would just make him look weak and passive.

And because he absolutely needs to be dunked on yet again, here's everyone's favorite bootlicker Raj Giri. Most mainstream exposure in history? Hogan vs Andre II was watched by over 30 million when it happened. I don't think Rock vs Roman is reaching that. To be fair, I don't think there's any match that is gonna reach that.

If he is able to travel do you bring Punk into all of this? Have him act as Cody's conscience and be the devil/angel on his shoulder trying to convince him what a mistake he has made and how he has to work to re-earn his shot (Handicap match v Solo & Jimmy at EC, a gauntlet of challenges on Smackdown). Punk being furious at the situation and being able to see that Cody's good nature is being taken advantage of makes sense character-wise as he is a man who has lost a WM main event to the Rock turning up so he can show him the big picture.
It infantilizes Cody and makes him look weak and naive but they should have thought about that before last Friday. Cody said "I don't wanna" in front of the world, the genie is out of the bottle now.

And because he absolutely needs to be dunked on yet again, here's everyone's favorite bootlicker Raj Giri. Imagine if Austin finished the story.. at some point. Wins back to back rumble matches and is set to face Michaels when.. uh oh, here comes Kevin Nash back in the fed. I know it's not a 1:1 example, but the point stands. WWE had a real chance here to put Cody over huge and bring about a new era. One to potentially keep the company's on screen stuff head and shoulders above all the horrible shit that's going on backstage. I say potentially, and I say that as not a big Cody mark.. but I think it could have been a big deal.
