If he is able to travel do you bring Punk into all of this? Have him act as Cody's conscience and be the devil/angel on his shoulder trying to convince him what a mistake he has made and how he has to work to re-earn his shot (Handicap match v Solo & Jimmy at EC, a gauntlet of challenges on Smackdown). Punk being furious at the situation and being able to see that Cody's good nature is being taken advantage of makes sense character-wise as he is a man who has lost a WM main event to the Rock turning up so he can show him the big picture. It infantilizes Cody and makes him look weak and naive but they should have thought about that before last Friday. Cody said "I don't wanna" in front of the world, the genie is out of the bottle now. it would make the rock a villain and rock isn’t gonna do that. he will go down saying he is the hero |

Seeing Cody the very next night after being absolutely screwed like this not visibly be bitter about it, and instead making a legally blind fan’s life by hugging them multiple times and personally handing them a signed piece of broken table is just, god damn.
He’s the guy, WWE. THE. GUY. You’re next Cena. The lightning you’ve been trying to bottle again, forcing guys like Sheamus and Roman into Cena-shaped holes, ruining the badass auras they came into the promotion with, and had to spend years to regain. And you are letting old ass The Rock piss on that.

Can you imagine working a Hell in a Cell match with a completely ripped off the bone torn pectoral that looks like the Venom Symbiote is taking over your body... just for this to be the result the next two years?
The dude has been nothing but committed to get to this goal, he has done everything they've said, he's followed all the rules, he's eaten all the shit, and regardless of what you think of how he left AEW or why, he very clearly showed he should be the top world champion in the WWE like several times over
And this is the result of all that, The Rock becoming part owner of the WWE, and in less than two weeks, yoinking all of that away from him, because he decided he would be what was best for them and for the company
Dude is a bigger man than me. I and I feel like many others in the same position would have torched that bridge and flipped them off on the way out... and it would have been much less than what they actually deserved.

Love this theme, and I was so happy they put it on the Anthology CD collection back in the day. They could actually save it with this scenario, though it would be overbooked to hell. Basically have it start as a tornado tag with Cody going after Rocky, Seth after Reigns. Eventually Seth is taken out leading to Rocky and Roman beating on Cody. The teamwork breaks down and Reigns goes after Rocky. Rocky gets the upper hand but Seth gets back into the match and takes him out. As Seth then gets the upper hand on Roman The Bloodline get involved, but then out comes Punk with a chair. He goes after The Bloodline, but also hits Seth 'accidentally on purpose'. Seth and The Bloodline taken out. The Rock is trying to make his way back into the ring but has a 'worked shoot' verbal exchange with Punk, before Punk blasts Rocky in the face with a chair, causing colour. Roman gets to his feet, Cody is waiting for him. Cody mercs him with his greatest hits, and boom! New champ! Big celebrations! He finished the story, but there is all kinds of fallout between Punk/Rock, Punk/Seth, Roman/Rock, Cody/Roman, even Punk/Cody. There's so much that can be done from here, with interacting arcs and some long term booking. |

I hated Rock when his feud with Cena was just him saying lame jokes. Cena got a Fruity Pebble sponsorship out of it though which was the funniest part, it made him more money lol I remember people being obtuse about it, like it wasn't obvious Rock calling him "Fruity Pebbles" was him filtering his "lol gaywad" 1998 routine into something with marginal plausible deniability. |
