Biggest loser in all of this after Cody is Seth.
His title has officially entered Bitchalla.
It's a joke that no one in the industry let alone that same locker room respect.
FUBU it ain't.

See Sid should power bomb the Rock. And Cody. And Roman. And Seth. Then unify all the belts. For he's THE MASTER AND RULER OF THE WORLD.

Put me firmly in the not letting HHH off the hook on this camp. He made the call to put Roman over Cody last year - the reports last year were all that Vince himself was "You're not puttin' Cody over, pal?" about the ending and HHH could not possibly have been more smug when asked about the decision after the show. And this is 100% HHH's style, he's addicted to his beloved heat all costs approach. Heels winning the Wrestlemania main event starts with him, along with the endless misery slog booking style for his time on top as a performer and authority figure. He's the one who, by all reports, made the suggestion of having himself beat Booker at 19 because it would give him more heat to put Goldberg over, then to beat Goldberg in the Chamber anyway for even more heat and completely missing the window on making the most of Goldberg. And as a booker himself, he had the DIY break-up angle in NXT where he kept putting off perfect moments where Gargano could have come out on top and put a perfect bow on a perfect story, instead stringing it out for more and more heat until the window passed with an injury and it turned into a muddled mess that petered out with a long slog of a match (basically what HHH vs. Rollins and HHH vs. Reigns ended up being). What did he actually book this year? He never bothered to come up with the reason why Brock attacked Cody in the first place. And according to HHH himself, it was Brock Lesnar of all people who decided to end the feud with the respect spot for Cody on his own in the ring. So he didn't bother booking a good beginning OR ending to that feud. And the Bloodline ended up being Jimmy leaving the Bloodline only to immediately rejoin and nullify that payoff, and apparently has ended with Jey just shrugging and leaving. And all that time, a Money in the Bank out that just never got used anywhere. The payoff to the misery slog of missing "perfect" chances by passing on Drew and Sami at unbelievably perfect moments was Cody winning, and HHH did his thing and pulled his "I'll go a little later, I'll go a little later!" move and now he's going to need the fans to bail him out. Just put the belt on Cody last year, let everyone be happy, and you're basically gifted a killer championship run vs. a surprisingly game Brock who has logical motive to attack, and the same Bloodline slow collapse that - with a diminished, title-free, desperate Roman - would have been paying off perfectly vs. Rock right now. And Roman stays off TV basically the same amount anyway. He did it to himself. Can they still get out of it? Yes. Ironically with two guys he never liked and didn't like him. The ideas that people have thrown around of leaning into Rock, intentionally or not, abusing his new seat of power in storyline and Punk coming back to pep talk Cody into not letting the corporate machine take what he and the fans want away from them can still bail them out. But damn, to have not learned any lessons over the last 20 years and need to pull off a miracle again? 100% agree. Personally even without the Rock getting involved I was already checked out. They missed every peak, so the story was already flat for me. Now somehow things got worse, but damage was already done.

The other thing I’m seeing pop up now is social media support for Rock. So these morons are going to pull a Cena on Cody before he even wins. Wild.

It's even worse if Cody actually does win and then parlay that into the rumored unification match at SummerSlam. It's basically just going, "Seth's belt doesn't mean shit, he's only had it as long as he has because Cody hasn't been interested, and Cody still isn't interested and is only using it as a bargaining chip to fight Roman again after stupidly pissing away his initial chance to do so."

The more Rock doubles down on this the more he’s just going to breed resentment. There is no salvaging this. Rock really is going to just make the outward majority of the fandom hate him while a loud sect will defend him, cheer for him, and always obnoxiously have his back I guess he took a lot from his DCU experience since he seems to want to become the next Zack Snyder Funny you should mention the DCEU, considering as I've had time to digest this over the weekend, I've come to find big parallels with his attempted hostile takeover over at Warner Bros. Difference is, him being on the board of directors at TKO puts him much farther in seizing power here than he ever was at WBD. Also, "The Rock" has been a far more successful in moving merch than "Black Adam" ever was.

I honestly wish this just happened so Cody, Punk (if he wasn't hurt) all dodge Roman and Smackdown and Rock does his own thing. At least he sort of earned it with the Rumble. Then Cody, Punk, etc... all go into the EC for their right to get a match with Seth for the World Title. Then no one looks like a bitch, Rock and Roman can do their own verbal promos with each other in their own bubble away from the rest of the roster.

Kind of another thing is that if they do pay this off at SummerSlam the build is going to have to be severely gimped to do it. Money in the Bank is on July 6th and Bash in Berlin is on August 31st; SummerSlam doesn't have a date yet but with both shows being international ones you're going to want at least one of your top champions on one of them (especially since there is no f***ing chance Roman is working Backlash) and so you have pretty much at most five weeks to build up the match and then that'd leave you two weeks to build a card worth caring about at Bash in Berlin. Wouldn't be an issue if you had two titles worth caring about, but the World title's firmly positioned as, "That shit nobody wants," with this move and if they do the unification thing then it's going to be a total non-factor by that point.
It's just reliving the same set of stupid thought processes that led to the match where Roman finally conquered Brock being four minutes long in front of a dead crowd and Roman only winning due to Braun distracting Brock for him.

Another thing that sticks out to me is all that crowing that was done by guys like Heyman about how they’re in the “fourth inning of the story” or whatever and…there is no story! Outside of Sami’s run with the group, it’s just the same stuff on repeat every time!
Maybe he said it slightly in character, but combined with them apparently having tons of creative control over this title run, it brings me back to what I said before: this promotion is focused on characters who fit certain molds and archetypes, not stories. It’s an environment where the journey means very, very little, while everything is focused on the destination (e.g. Mania being the only show that *really* matters, more focus always being on who won/lost and not *how* things happened, etc.).
