There are some people with some serious mental issues in all fan bases including wrestling. 99.99% of the time they don't mean it, but they never should say such things. If you are a public figure, it is going to happen to you at some point. I'm all for banning or even prosecuting those who do it on social media or elsewhere. People like Roman Reigns, John Cena, Charlotte Flair etc have probably had literally hundreds if not thousands of online death threats over the years and I'm pretty sure not one of those losers doing it have ever so much as been spoken to by police. The sad reality is you can pretty much get away with heinous comments/threats probably without even being banned from the platform you made them on.

If it true then they really want Cody to be like 2014 Danielson....
Nick Bakay was right, they DO hand out signs! Sarcastic cats are sometimes right.

If that's true, man, @#$% this company. Same story when they wanted to push Roman to the moon but kept pulling back before going too far because of fan backlash fears: just shit, or get off the pot. Make up your damned mind, and stop trying to spin misery booking into some kind of "no, see, it was the plan all along!" nonsense, not after you just had Cody make a fool of himself on live TV to set this up. Just creatively bankrupt and mind-bogglingly insulting to the intelligence of their fans.

I can only see this backfiring if this is true. Fans already love Cody, it doesn’t need any manufactured attempt at turning him into Danielson.

Why are fans going at her, she has nothing to do with his fathers business...
I know all fanbases are toxic and yes the other companies have unpleasant elements but the man child problem amongst the WWE fanbase is getting out of control. Riho getting run off social media, Seth attacked on the ramp by someone who believed he was friends with him, a guy selling his house to give money to “Liv Morgan”, creepiness at airports, Kairi had a nasty stalker and there was the near tragedy with Deville. Not to mention the fully grown men meltdowns on social media that happen daily. There’s not a lot they can really do about it other than make sure their security staff are the best they can get but it’s an increasing headache for them I’m sure.

I've got no problem with them wanting Cody to be 2013-2014 Daniel Bryan. What I've got a problem with is execution. This isn't how you do it. This hurt's Cody, Seth and his belt, this hurts the storyline, this hurts Rock even, shit it hurts everyone. Ava is getting death threats because of this shit booking. You didn't need this in order for Cody to be cheered more, hell Cody's already their most popular star and one of the most popular stars this company's had this decade. All you had to do is have Cody pick Roman and then say he called The Rock to be in his corner to stop Jimmy and Solo. That's. f***ing. It. Rock can help promote the match, Rock can talk shit to Roman setting up their Summerslam or Wrestlemania 2025 match, Rock still gets cheered and Cody will finally have someone we KNOW won't be taken down by Solo. Rock can even lift Cody's arm up at the end like he did Roman when he endorsed him. Still that's discounting the fact that Cody needs some sort of hashtag movement in order to be ready. He was ready last year. He gives you the ticket sales, merch, fan meetups, promos, he's that dude. Yall had the perfect setup. If anything we're already pissed enough from Roman's reign. Again, yall had the perfect setup.
But doing it this way? Where it hurts everyone? Is f***ing dumb. You mean to tell me Rock, Nick K and a few others knew and Trips apparently didn't? You mean the head booker books Cody and is setting up Cody/Roman and yet yall spring this on Cody, him and everyone else?
What we doing here?
Just stupid.

This is what’s confusing me, Cody is already very much f***ing way over. I think you could already compare the two in terms of merch sales and all that Cody just doesn’t have a “yes” chant to go along….. OMG THEYRE GOING TO GIVE HIM THE YES CHANT

It makes no sense. There's no need to try create a "movement" when Cody is bigger than Bryan in 14 already. They both had the live crowd but Cody is a bigger difference maker for ticket sales and ratings than Bryan ever was. He's been the top drawing babyface in wrestling for over a year now.

So let me get this straight. The brilliant idea is that instead of giving the fans what they want, they might be purposely booking a worse show to make it seem like they might not be giving you the thing you want so you’ll get angry.
f*** that.

Danielson made sense kayfabe wise though. He was feuding with the authority, in story they were (or had been) screwing him over and stopping him from getting to the top. The YES movement was a weird combination of kayfabe and shoot feelings. So it kinda worked. WWE got lucky that their crap booking could be pivoted kayfabe wise
There is nothing kayfabe wise to save this Cody stuff. Any pivot is purely shoot. You basically breaking the 4th wall and saying 'actually, forget this, lets do the super happy Cody ending instead'. It's basically the ending of Waynes World

Honestly I think wrestling is overdue something tragic happening. As you say the near misses could have been even worse. On their own most won't do anything but as part of a group with a cause, with the likes of Cornette inflaming things, the already questionable moderation on Twitter weakening further under Musk, all could embolden them. Especially if something ends up crossing over with racism, incels, politics, transphobia etc. Then we'll soon have AI fakery on top. If people are fooled by fake Liv Morgan's in text form imagine what might happen with convincing video and voice tech. Wrestlers and promotions saying dumb things intentionally or by accident that antagonise fans doesn't help either. Nor does poorly trained outsourced arena security but at least the big companies have their own team. But like you say there's a limit to what they can do.

They both had the live crowd but Cody is a bigger difference maker for ticket sales and ratings than Bryan ever was. He's been the top drawing babyface in wrestling for over a year now. It’s maddening. Dude is already the most over babyface in the territory, has tangible evidence backing this up and he’s barely lost any matches since he’s been back. Literally the only thing saving him from there being a reasonable argument that he’s getting an overbearing super push like a Cena or a Reigns before him, is that he HASN’T won the world title. Like, do they WANT people to believe that it’s real? For people to go beyond the reasonable investment of “I like the guy on the TV show” and basically become a cult for the man and ratio the f*** out of social media and send death threats to people holding him down?

Damn, catching up on all this and seeing Ava pulled in for no reason, plus other NXT talent getting bombarded.
This is NOT fair to them at all. Leave them out of it.
Just go for Rock, WWE and definitely Brian Gerwitz on X/Instagram.
Leave everyone else out.

Just stupid. Yeah if this is a work, then 1) it's stupid, and 2) it makes The Rock come off as the heel taking Cody's spot for no reason. On top of that, right before Cody came out on Friday to do the promo, Reigns proceeded to take a giant dump all over Rollins and the world title (all justified and accurate, by the way), so for Cody to come out and give up his dream in order to go after a belt that nobody takes seriously made everyone except Reigns look bad. Really, only Roman is unscathed from this. Cody looks like a dope, Rock looks like a politician who is putting himself over the business, and Rollins looks like a goof trying to sell a consolation trophy as being on par with being 1st place. If this is a work, then it's about the dumbest work I have seen.

Cody/Seth is a "rivalry" in the same way that Yankees/Red Sox was a "rivalry" before 2004. Yankees and Red Sox have always been sports rivals... it didnt' just happen in 2004. The whole Curse of the Bambino thing... and just general Boston vs. New York in general...

It happens everywhere because social media made a lot of hte worst people in the world way too comfortable sharing their worst thoughts.

Trust this f***ing paedophile friendly dork to take a victory lap about death threats. Ricochet comes off as a massive, what's the word I can use here. Moron would be too nice, since idiots don't understand what they are saying. He knows what he's saying, so I'll say he's a tapeworm.
