Here he is being a complete prick to Tom Phillips for no reason To be fair, The Rock's character has always been a dick to interviewers. True but this being right after they were both booed to oblivion makes me feel his ego was damaged. There's nothing witty about what he's saying here, he's literally just telling Tom his question is bad and he's gonna get fired.

Not to be a sour puss, but I'm starting to feel like the vitriol around this whole situation is bordering on toxic.
Yeah I wish the dude stayed home or got involved in a non-match capacity. Hell, he should have gone out on his back after the whole Cena thing. Part of me assumes it's because he regrets effectively having a full time run, lasting only 5-6 years.
As it stands, the discourse is getting a bit nasty in places and it doesn't warrant it. It's a soap opera with musclebound men slapping up against each other.

But a lot of people invested a lot of time and energy into wanting Rhodes to get this specific title run, especially after WrestleMania last year. Rational people would be upset, yes, but they wouldn't take it any further than the criticism of The Rock (and anyone else involved in this decision as it currently stands) for not reading the room and shoving his own story over the one that they were invested in. Rational people wouldn't take it out on Sami Zayn for saying basically what you're saying about it not being THAT big of a deal in the grand scheme of things, and they especially wouldn't send death threats to the man's f***in' daughter.

Yeah, I see your point, it is getting a bit dark and messy with the hate. I understand folk are upset, but it can be put across without making it overly personal. Didn't his daughter get death threats? If true, then the folk doing that should be f***ing ashamed of themselves.

Bit like the Punk situation (situations) in AEW, it's now become so cloudy and counter-claim-y that it's hard to navigate.
We've had people online get all revved up about something then it turns out to be either false or unclear, and it's exhausting.
I'm pretty stuck to my guns that Rock made this move out of egotism, but most everything else seems uncertain.
Think I'm gonna touch grass on this for a couple days, then catch up on the whole press conference & recap on Friday morning (UK time zone here).

I'm not looking to minimize the ugliness and gravity of death threats, but those aren't indicative of the broader conversation going on. Death threats will be thrown around over every idea or opinion on the internet by f***head opportunists with no idea how to behave or treat other humans. It's garbage that people are getting them, but it's not the inherent fault or flaw of the conversation or people on the side of it, and it's easy to look at a handful of awful messages and go "This is the conversation turning toxic" when it's only five people out of ten thousand.

I think this is it. Go look at the "#DieRockyDie" hashtag - it's only a few weird people over the last couple of days. Definitely some tweets from ppl that take this stuff too seriously, but I don't think the death threats crowd is a large part of this one.

Everything goes smoothly, and everybody's on their best behavior until Rock starts ranting on how he vs Roman is really the correct way to end Roman's run, and that Black Adam is the biggest success in movie history. Part of me can kind of see the Rock snapping at the fans lol. Remember when he got booed in Philly in 15’ and snapped at that reporter? Lol What are you talking about? Meltzer has assured us at Rock doesn’t care if he’s booed. Rock is so mature like that.

Should Meltzer get any credit given that he's contradicted himself multiple times already? What are his multiple contradictions and where has he said them? Not that it would be crazy for a journalist to learn more about an evolving story, but people in this thread seem to be conflating a bunch of different reporters together as one person. Here’s one example I found quoted on Twitter. Dave still has the same date for Rock coming in, but thinks it’ll be Cody and Seth unless they pivot to something else. This is NOT the same stuff and tone as later. “When he (The Rock) made the deal on January 3 to come in, that (Roman Reigns at Mania) was part of the deal, & why Cody Rhodes won the Royal Rumble is a question that I cannot answer because nobody will answer it for me. But, the belief was that it was Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes, and nobody knew, but the deal had been made prior to that. It played out the way they wanted it to play out. The plan as of Friday night was Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes, and we’ll see how it plays out because now they’re trying to turn it into a story and see how the story goes.”

I just don't understand how Dwayne saw and heard THIS and thought he needed to step in to 'save Wrestlemania'...

The Rock said "popcorn fart" on a live mic. Probably more than once.
Never forget.

The mania 40 press conference could be wwe’s answer to Muffingate they're selling credentials to get in, can't imagine anyone paying is going to want to risk having an exclusive scrum only Funko Pop taken off them for stepping out of line It’s free to get in

Genuine question - if they do go ahead with Rock vs Reigns as the WM main event, how will the live crowd react? Will they cheer Roman or shit over the entire match? I don't know what the general vibe is towards Roman these days so I wondered if he'd be cheered or not.

It's Philly, they're gonna at the very least cause an extreme mixed reaction but I'm thinking it could be Lesnar/Goldberg levels of apathy The only thing that might mute the reaction a bit is it being in an Open Air stadium.

You'll get your "Let's Go Cody," you'll get your "Let's Go Rocky," and you'll get your "Let's Go Roman." It's a huge, open air stadium so I don't think a crowd will be able to "hijack" it as they would an arena unless they legit are dealing with 40 or 50K people there that don't want the match.
