Looking at that Rock interview I think they are going to pivot because Rock is doing some great work to build a Rock vs Cody match right now. It’s like what the guy before said, the promos come off like they’re building Reigns v Rollins and Rhodes v Rock. (Looks like we got a third PirateMania with all these RRRRRRRs)

I'm still thinking about SRS referencing his own tweets to allude to what he's saying like they're well known catchphrases. I'm gonna start referencing my gay web novels to hint at the true intentions behind my posts. Chiral. Chiral please. Listen to me. Chiral. I need you to listen Chiral. What you're talking about right now is becoming this guy And I care about you too much to let that happen I love the idea that Sean Ross Sapp is the Gregory Berrycone of dirt sheet folks.

Remember when Shaq was (kayfabe) beefing on TNT with Cody and called him "Cody Cupcake?" I think I preferred that to #CodyCrybabies. Also, 6 PM CT is pretty late in the day for a press conference, right? Especially for a weekday? Sports media is all in Vegas right now for the Super Bowl. It’s only 4PT.

Again, this story shouldn't be difficult to write. Good guy wins Rumble, loses Mania (I would have had him win here but whatever), comes back and is the first person to win back to back Rumbles in over 20 years, win Mania. It's literally the most basic story structure out there. Good guy comes close to winning, faces adversity, builds back momentum, comes back to overcome previous adversity. The writer in me is screaming at how you can screw up such an easy lay up and come up with *THIS* instead.

So catching up on everything with the leadup to the press conference.
How did everyone feel here about the Rock cutting a promo on Cody Crybabies?

I think the most interesting thing in all of this today is how many wrestling journalists are using this as a time to almost do a pre-game to the actual press conference. Conrad/Bischoff are doing a live stream to comment about the implications, etc.

I'd say this is me when Cody doesn't main event Wrestlemania but it'd actually be more timely a reference than The Rock's career Dustin Rhodes: Okay so The Rock just stole my brother's Wrestlemania 40 Main Event and he's freaking out

I think 23 years of WWE being the only game in town of their size has desensitized us all who've continued watching to varying extents about accepting things that don't make sense in terms of storylines/presentations/progressions etc.
And I think our reaction to "none of this makes sense" regarding this particular Cody/Reigns/Rock build is perhaps how non-viewers who've given it a chance once or twice in recent years (especially pandemic onward when they'd be inclined to give it a try) interpret what's on-screen and immediately peace out every time they come into contact with it.
"Why is he doing that? Why are they fighting again?"

It's the first time I've seen these guys using YouTube Live this effectively, maybe this is the norm and I'm just more in tune to YouTube these days, but it's interesting.

Again I’ll say that this reminds me of when they did a fake leg injury for Bret vs. Vince at Mania. They still did the match in the end, but had to throw in a weird “worst night in Bret’s life” thing for no real reason.

For what it's worth, someone I know who watched during the Attitude Era and checked out messaged me today asking why Rock was stealing Cody's spot...and who's Cody, anyway. So this might somehow benefit Cody.

Whether it ends up being beneficial interest or not, the interest is definitely very high.
