God, I hate to say this but like...they may have accidentally fell into something more interesting than Cody vs. Roman straight up?

Night 1: Rock and Roman vs. Cody and Seth. Seth and Cody win.

Night 2: Roman w/Rock vs. Cody w/HHH (or Seth). Cody wins after Seth, Sami and Jey neutralize the threat of Rock, Solo and Jimmy.

Night after Mania: Rock assumes control of The Bloodline from Roman and turns into a mega heel. Roman turns babyface and you get Roman vs. Rock next year with some actual on-screen stakes and story.

Maybe this is what the dude meant by "long gamer?" Or the long game was playing Cody out of his main event. Who knows.
