They could have some sort of YouTube exclusive backstage celebration with Dustin. He's still an AEW talent, doesn't matter if it was on social media, TV, whatever, I doubt Tony's letting his talent appear on their programming in any capacity. For no reason, they'll cut to "Adam Cole's girlfriend" in the crowd during Mania's main event. (I feel like any *beef* between the two companies was less serious back when that happened.)

I mean, Billy Gunn was inducted in the Hall of Fame via DX while he was under AEW contract.

I hope I'm wrong because I'd want to see Dustin.

I'm pretty sure Cody's walking out with the title. So does TK allow Dustin to be part of the in ring celebration after the match? Almost certainly not. The only way it might happen is if wwe give aew something in return, maybe allowing some people they have under contract to contribute video messages to Sting's retirment and the rights to use their footage. Even then it's highly unlikely.

I should probably bow out at the "stories don't really matter, why are people still complaining or analyzing the f***up, they fixed it you IWC goofs" phase of the thread Yeah, I had bowed out long before it took that turn because it was so obvious that this was going to happen. I will say, WWE has gotten me interested in Mania again despite not being into the company or the product as a whole because I really want to see Cody finally win the big one, but it's just crazy to me the extent to which "the more things change, the more they stay the same" with WWE. It's absurd that we even had to get to this nonsensical pivot because the powers that be in WWE apparently believed that the fanbase would just accept at face value that the Rock was waltzing in and taking Cody's spot after almost 2 years of build. And, frankly, Final Countdown Jones predicted this a week ago, but the "masterful gambit, sir" type defenses of this nonsense that was very clearly and obviously not planned are so obnoxious that it's painful to even follow the build to Mania at this point. With me, I just don’t see why it’s worth worrying about so long as you enjoy the eventual card.

I’m just not fond of this mentality. Fan: Argh, I’m mad. You messed things up. WWE: Fine, we’ll go back to the original plan. Fan: Argh, I’m going to keep being mad because you never should have done it in the first place. That could then lead to: WWE: Fine, if you’re going to be mad anyway, we’re going back to the new plan. If they pivot based on crowd reactions, then spin the story in a way to make the initial mistake make sense. The Daniel Bryan story was easy to fix because it had months of backstory to begin with. Incorporating HHH into the mix and then adding DB to the main event after that made perfect sense to the overall story arc, so even if that wasn’t their initial idea, they still found a way to make it logical. WWE has to do that for this storyline as well. Cody has to explain why he stepped aside for the Rock in the first place, and weave that into the story. If they do that, then I don’t think anyone will complain. Actually, it’s wrestling fans, so there will be complaining, but there shouldn’t be in that scenario.

I'm not gonna give credit to em for being forced to do what fans want. That's nuts. That said, I don't watch so I don't care haha That's where I'm at. I'm not going to give them credit for their once a decade move of making such a stupid decision that the fans get loud about it and they change course. The reason so many of us thought they wouldn't change course in the first place is because moments like these have shown up repeatedly and most of the time they get ignored or muted out of the shows. I WILL give them credit for making a moronic situation of their own doing into chicken mcnugget salad, this is about as good as you were going to get after all that. I feel like we're going around in the most basic circles of fandom right now. You don't have to "hand it to 'em" unless you're an idiot but if the storyline is intriguing to you, you should watch.

I don't necessarily disagree with that, especially since I tend to just watch the WWE PLEs in a vacuum and largely only keep up with the week-to-week programming through YouTube and Instagram clips. It's just, spare me the "WWE totally worked you, marks!" stuff that we're already starting to see, because this was obviously an emergency pivot and not some genius plan to garner even more sympathy for the most sympathetic babyface in the entire industry.

Not that I disagree with you because I don't but you might want to save your energy and not get too annoyed or upset about it yet. We've got a long ass time of this being debated coming up, there are people who still swear up and down all of the Daniel Bryan stuff was planned organically. Save it for 5 years from now, Logan Paul is a 10 time champion on his 500 day reign and people try to say Rock had been heel since Jumanji 2.

At the end of the day, it's just a silly angle on a wrestling show. But it makes it painful to try and follow the build when, because of WWE's overwrought booking, everyone is dissecting whether or not it pulled some galaxy-brained move to "work the marks" rather than the actual story that is being told on screen.

People are suggesting maybe doing Rock vs. Seth (the family trying to control all of the gold).
And that’s, potentially interesting.

I think the WHC is entirely valid and legit enough (Seth has been having constant matches) but if you wanna immediately make it mean something, that would do it overnight. Only issue and huge worry I have is that if Rock were to get it, there is ZERO chance the WWE could resist doing a two man power trip thing which means Cody loses at Mania again and we're in an even worse spot than we were.
