Assuming WM is the tag match and Cody/Roman, what do you all think we get for Summerslam?
Cody/Rock and Seth/Roman?
Sound like a good Summerslam to yall?

With this in mind, what do you all think we get for Summerslam? Cody/Rock and Seth/Roman? Sound like a good Summerslam to yall? Neither of those really remotely interests me personally but whatever, I just hope this stupid title reign's over with by then. Ideally I'd probably have Cody losing the belt to Gunther at SummerSlam.

Either way, that would definitely be a match I'd be interested in seeing.

Part of me thinks Gunther cashes in on Cody after he successfully defends his title but another part of me thinks he might want to beat him straight up without the briefcase. For sure he's definitely taking it from Cody though. That's just the perfect setup.

I doubt Rock will be available much post-Mania. He's got to be one of the busiest people on the planet. I'm shocked he's even finally doing another Mania season. If there's a draft after Mania that will make things clearer but I think at Summerslam Cody faces either Gunther, Orton or maybe even a rematch with Roman (they might break out hell in a cell in that case). It's hard to know if Roman will even be heel or face by Summerslam though. I think there's a chance his heel run ends with him dropping the title at Mania. In which case he might disappear for a while, maybe even longer than Summerslam, before returning as a face. I think there's a chance Seth also drops his title at Mania then takes some time off so Summerslam might be his first match back. Not sure who he'd face right now. If Drew re-signs and Punk is back in time I think they face each other at Summerslam.

I should probably bow out at the "stories don't really matter, why are people still complaining or analyzing the f***up, they fixed it you IWC goofs" phase of the thread That wasn’t what I was trying to do at all. I was saying that their booking mistake isn’t enough for me to lose any significant interest in WrestleMania this year.

Roman loses, gets beaten down by the Bloodline on Rock’s orders, they both disappear for a bit (Rock to do his other things, Roman to get much needed rest). Solo steps up to Cody as a challenger on the Bloodline’s behalf.

That "wrestling has more than one royal family" is gonna hit like crack at mania There is only one dominant and royal family in professional wrestling." I'm telling you, that intro is gonna hit like crack in '87 at Mania.

I should probably bow out at the "stories don't really matter, why are people still complaining or analyzing the f***up, they fixed it you IWC goofs" phase of the thread Yeah, I had bowed out long before it took that turn because it was so obvious that this was going to happen. I will say, WWE has gotten me interested in Mania again despite not being into the company or the product as a whole because I really want to see Cody finally win the big one, but it's just crazy to me the extent to which "the more things change, the more they stay the same" with WWE. It's absurd that we even had to get to this nonsensical pivot because the powers that be in WWE apparently believed that the fanbase would just accept at face value that the Rock was waltzing in and taking Cody's spot after almost 2 years of build. And, frankly, Final Countdown Jones predicted this a week ago, but the "masterful gambit, sir" type defenses of this nonsense that was very clearly and obviously not planned are so obnoxious that it's painful to even follow the build to Mania at this point.

What really changed my mind that this is a word (or an almost immediate pivot) is Cody’s acting and professionalism. He’s always been professional and has always done what he could to get the character and story over. On Monday with Seth, Cody looked distraught and like he was holding back tears when the crowd chanted Rocky Sucks.
That was 100% acting and attempting to get the story across. At least by Raw, the story was headed this way already. I didn’t really watch the segment with Cody handing over his shot to the Rock, but people have described it as Cody turning around and leaving like a sad puppy. If that’s true, I’m inclined the way he was acting then, too. This was the plan. A Rock heel turn and a week long “Yes Movement” to pump Cody up. I would NOT have said that a couple days ago.

Cody did an off-air speech after Raw with Sami and it was quite clear he was choked up and certainly overwhelmed by the support he got through all this.

“Who gives a f*** if it makes sense narratively” is such an amazing statement. You can use it for anything! “Why did Russo book that swerve? It makes no sense.” “Who gives a f*** if it makes sense narratively.” I wasn’t saying just book anything. Of course you should try to book stuff that makes sense. All I’m saying is that, at the end of the day, fans make the final decision on how things go. If they say things need to go in a different direction then you make it happen. Also, if some of you are going to be condescending, have the decency to directly respond to the post you’re referring to.

I'm pretty sure Cody's walking out with the title. So does TK allow Dustin to be part of the in ring celebration after the match?

Cody getting the Rock of all people booed is one the best examples of his popularity. That just doesn't happen. Most wrestling fans don't care about backstage Rock politics and yet they still treated that man like he's the villain. Just goes to show that Cody is really The Guy.

And that's to be expected - I don't think WWE would let one of their talents appear on screen in AEW because it makes for a good moment for them. If Dustin was in TNA, maybe that's a different story.

He's still an AEW talent, doesn't matter if it was on social media, TV, whatever, I doubt Tony's letting his talent appear on their programming in any capacity.

I think a live #AskDustin hashtag on Twitter is the way to go and nothing could possibly go wrong
